Let’s have a Pajama Party! “PAJAMA PARTY” is a booklet of original patterns from the archives of Mini-Fashion Boutique. Make a variety of slumbertogs for Barbie, Francie, Skipper (vintage size) and Tutti, seven outfits total! These will enhance any wardrobe, especially for Francie, Vintage Skipper and Tutti who seem to have been slighted in the pattern department!

The first design for Barbie is a sleeveless Sleepdress with short ruffle-trimmed Sleepshirt robe, very typical of 1970! It was originally made of eyelet (can also be of lace), trimmed with lace or eyelet ruffle. Elastic under the bodice of the one-piece gown forms an empire bodice, accented with a ribbon sash laced through thread loops, tied in a bow in front. Back is closed with a single snap. The matching Sleepshirt (of lace or eyelet) has long sleeves and shirt-tail, trimmed with lace down the front band, and lace-trimmed collar. Buttons are added down the front, but uses snap closures underneath. The following Sleepdress sketch is from the cover and the Sleepshirt is in the booklet with the pattern:

You also have the option of dressing Barbie in “Leisure Glamour,” gorgeous satin lounger pjs, covered with a fur-trimmed sheer robe. The sleeveless bodice of the pjs is lined and trimmed with a ruffle at the neckline. The attached pants are fitted and high-waisted to just under the bust line. Wide flair legs are also trimmed with lace or eyelet ruffle. The floor-length robe is of flowing chiffon, and features raglan sleeves. Fur trim accents the neckline, sleeves and lower edge of the robe. Tiny pearl beads are sewn on the front to the waist as trim, with snap closures. A tie belt of satin tubing is inserted from the inside through openings in the side seams at the waist and ties in front, leaving the back loose and flowing. I made the original set of hot pink satin for the pjs and matching chiffon with white faux fur for the robe. A sketch of the robe is below:

Francie also has two sleepover choices: First is a cool Ruffled Pants and Crop Top PJ set (below left). The top is a bra with two rows of ruffles, ribbon straps and hooks and eyes closures. The pants have elastic at the waist with ruffles added to the leg hemline. The second option is a Mini-Sleep Shift with bloomers (below right). The full flowing top is cut all in one piece, and has cording through a casing at the neckline, which is pulled and tied center front. Tiny pompoms are attached to the ends of the cording. The full sleeves have elastic at the wrist, also forming a ruffle. The bloomers have elastic through a casing, and elastic at the leg openings, also forming a ruffle like the sleeves.

The little girls are also included with some cutie-petutti sleep wear: First Vintage Skipper wears Ruffled Romper PJ’s (below left from the cover), featuring a stand up collar and a front opening, both trimmed with lace. Lace also trims the leg openings which have elastic forming ruffles. Buttons trim down the front, with snap closures. Tutti’s Baby Doll PJ’s are darling (below right, also from the cover), and feature a lined bodice, trimmed at the neckline with lace, and puffed sleeves, with elastic and lace trim. Cute, tiny little bloomers have elastic in the waist casing, and elastic at the leg openings, with lace trim.

The patterns in this booklet were designed and published in 1970 by Mini-Fashion Boutique, a source of independently designed fashions published in separate fashion sheets, booklets, or bi-monthly newsletter. These designs reflect some of the popular styles of that era of original vintage doll designs published over 30 years ago.

This is a reprint of the original booklet which was mimeographed on 8-1/2 x 11 paper. The cover is hot pink—the color. There are 6 pages of patterns plus a full-page of instructions for each individual outfit.
