The social system of the Nagas is one of the best system of human social life. The community life of the Nagas has a unique feature. They work in group, eat in group, sleep in group and wooing in group. There is no individual cultivation, harvesting, house building. The community has concern on individual problems. Every work should be completed within the stipulated time. A family could not complete a work in time due to sickness, there the whole community will come to help it. The philosophies of the Nagas were very close to communist principle "He who does not work, neither shall he eat" is a Naga principle too. There is no place for idle man in the Naga community.

All members in the society enjoy equal rights and privileges. The Nagas who died in thousands mile away was brought and buried where he was born. The Nagas are a well organizes and disciplined community. They do not lock their houses and their paddy barn are kept in the outskirts of the village. Theft, murder, lies, cheating was unknown in the Naga village. There was no any formal established institutions or schools to impart education to the youngsters, but learnt to work together, live together, help together, sing together as a community, all these they learnt from their dormitory life, the early Naga school. Morung was a common practice of all Naga tribes. The morung of the boys and the girls were usually under the look out of a particular family guardianship. The boys pays visits to the girls dormitory in the night to crack jokes, narrate story, sing songs, exchange news and views and they retire to their own bedrooms late at night. Thus the morung were the main centers of the Naga social life. Morungs were the early schools where the youths were moulded and impart them education, develop personalities, build their character and learn various social activities, tactics of games and sports, the skill of hunting's, agriculture, buildings of houses crafts and looms, know each others life and thus begins love at the dormitory and choose partner of the right kind of would be wife or husband.

Marriage is both exogamous-i.e. marriage with the same clan is forbidden and outside marriage was also forbidden in the past. The marriage is arranged through parents concern in proper negotiation. The village priest performs the marriage ceremony. No woman will keep her hairs before she is married, the shaved hair indicates that she is virgin.

Man folk are valued more, due respect is given to man. The animal butchered for the feast of merit, marriage or any other feast, the meat are given only to man share.
