Chicago Radio Market and/or Tapeables Page
as of 4 October 99
2...2...2 lists in one! The following contains every station in the
Chicago metropolitan area, and with special notations for those I can record from
home and/or work.
A couple warning notes...will only be touching this page about twice each month,
if that, for the time being. Sorry, but I have other priorities! Also, the e-mail
address I'm currently using is a temporary one only, and can not be checked
very often. Don't worry, will get back to you soon as I can! -- MarkTime
Notations:
Bold -- Stations I can record easily from home or work, and in
stereo (where available)
Italics -- To make the "tapeable" aspect of this list more complete,
it includes a number of out-of-market stations I can record well at home or
while traveling around Chicagoland
-#- -- In the Chicago market, but is tough or impossible to record
(Usually due to broadcast schedule limitations, vs. my own sked)
All other stations (neither notation), can be recorded, tho would require
either some travel on my part, or at home only through the melodiously monophonic Superadio II
(please don't be afraid to ask, but expect delays and/or some mess)
!!! -- Personal faves [!-good, !!-great, !!!-Yes!!!]
$ -- Stereo AM, TV
= -- Simulcast (with other station mentioned)
{Universal Media Netweb} -- Satellite program (if/when known)
Will also make note of special programs which may be of interest, though these are now covered in more detail on a separate page.
Notes of caution to the Typical Radio Geeks out there...this list is in proper frequency order, AMs followed by FMs. It may also confuse them, but the only stations with "-FM" as part of their call sign are those licensed to carry such a suffix. Despite the popular misconception these days, there is still no such thing as a call-sign with an "-AM" attachment. Furthermore, unlike many of them, I keep use of hyphens ("-") to a tasteful minimum.
Oh yeah, in the programming notes, it's "news" or it's "talk"...what most folks seem to call "news-talk" is really just lots of talk talk!!.

Tapes I Need
Due to its greater length and detail, my "most wanteds" now have their own page.
I trade aircheck tapes...I do NOT buy or sell airchecks, but am happy to swap. Please write first...no unsolicited tapes will be replied to or returned.
I also enjoy corresponding via cassette..."talk-tapes" or "talk-letters". They can at least be a lively supplement to normal letters!
