Introduction to
Microsoft Access 2000
Microsoft Access is a powerful database management system that functions in the Windows’ environment.
Key Features:
Data Entry and update: Access provides easy mechanisms for adding, changing, or deleting data.
Queries: These allow the user to search a large database and find the records that he/she needs.
Forms: It is now easy to create forms that allow you view or update data.
Reports: these are a way to present your data in an attractive fashion.
Web Support: Access allows you to save your work as a web page.
Key Terms:
Database: This is a collection of data, which is organized in such a way as to render it easy to search.
Record: A collection of fields, which contain information about one person or entity. A record would contain the name, address, and phone number of one person, for example.
Field: An area that contains a specific piece of information about one person or entity within a record. A field would contain only the name, or address, or the phone number of one person, for example.
