Introduction
What really matters in a good cooler
The SVC Golden Gate 40 Heat Sink Fan is shorter than many of the other
HSFs, which have passed through my lab, but does that mean it is not an
effective cooler, no. In fact, this heat sink fan combo is better at keeping
Athlon thunderbird CPUs cooler than many of the big name brands out there,
such as Global Win. Having a solid copper structure helps this unit, but
the key lies in the thin fins, which increase surface area for cooling.
So What's New?
This unit has some unique features that are not seen on many other
HSFs. When you install this unit, you will notice the easy to use clip
that has a nice latch. This latch allows the unit to be installed without
the use of a screwdriver. Once on, the unit is very secure and does not
shift or move from side to side upon the CPU. HSFs that do move can chip
the core of the CPU, so this was rather comforting. The other thing that
is nice, is that this HSF willl fit on any socket A or Socket 370 motherboard
out there.
Check Out This Powerful Fan!
The SVC Golden Gate 40 has one powerful fan that pushes through over 40
CFM! Most 80 MM fans do only about 30 CFM, so a 60 MM throwing out that
much air, must be moving fast. according to my recording device the fan
rotated at around 7500 RPMs. This big fan, matched with the many thin
copper fins is the key to the success of this HSF.
