Rei is the reincarnation of the Princess of Mars. She is a Shinto fire priestess (a miko), very skilled in meditation and martial arts. She is in eigth grade at TA Private Girls' Schoo (Brookdale Private School) where she is pretty popular. Rei uses ofuda (anti-evil ward scrolls), however that is not connected with her Sailor identity, but her knowledge of the supernatural and training as a priestess. Early in the series, she and Usagi (Serena) weren't on very good terms. They both had major crushes on Mamoru (Darien), and Rei felt Usagi wasn't fit to be their leader. However, when they found out Usagi was the Moon Princess, Rei stepped back and supported Usagi. She has a massive collection of manga (otaku rule!), is a singer/songwriter, and a skier. She lives at Hikawa Jinja (Cherry Hill Temple) with her perverted Grandpa, Ojii-san or Ojii-chan and their helper person Yuichirou (Chad). Rei cares for him, but does not really show it.
