The five's scream one thing at me in a reading: challenge! There is nothing gentle about them. They are about adaptation, change and confusion. Right up there with the Tower experience! On the Tree of Life, they are the fifth sphere (Geburah). This is justice coming about in a fairly negative, or destructive manner. Numerologicaly, the five's are about expansion and re-creation. To the positive side, we have the attributes of curiosity and new opportunities, to the negative side we have the attributes of misfortune and failure. Also indicated here is a real need to balance the spiritual and the physical - to look to both worlds for our answers.
Osho Zen Tarot
description (mine):
This to me is one of the two gentler five's. In the Osho Zen deck, the Totality (Five of Fire/Wands) has a deep orange/red background. On the upper third of the card we see three figures swinging on a trapeze - with the middle figure swinging from right to left and about to be swung over to the *catcher* on that swing. There is a bright yellow aura surrounding the middle figure and her intersection with the other two figures.
Interpretation (mine):
Flow with the total of what there is in each moment - try not to focus on the minute details, or you will get lost. Know that everything is inter-connected.
Look at what you see as an obstacle, look at who you feel is challenging you.
Affirmation: "I see the big picture and am confidant in my ability to express myself well and make lasting connections with others."
description (mine):
This card is pure Zen. :) The background is light blue with white stars superimposed on it. In the middle we have a female figure wearing a loose yellow/green dress with many patches. She is holding her hands up to her head - except that her head is a square box filled with the multi-colored mish mash of life. Behind her head is the outline of another box - like a window, with the bottom half of a silver circle covering the top half. Behind this is a lavender circle.
Interpretation (mine):
If we allow the past to have too much influence on the present, we lose focus. Our memories become bonds, instead of threads that hold us together. The *baggage* of memories keeps us from learning our lessons. Accept the loss, the hurt, the disappointment and turn it into love and wisdom.
Affirmation:
"Understanding my loss's and disappointments makes me stronger."
description (mine):
This is a very simple, direct card. The background is yellow flowing into green. On the right hand side of the card we see a green bamboo shoot, on the left hand side a sturdy oak tree.
Interpretation (mine):
With even the thought of comparing we start to form labels - stronger/weaker, darker/lighter etc. In completely letting go of comparing, we allow ourselves to simply *be*. In *being*, we allow the light that we are to shine forth.
Affirmation:
"In learning to let go, I become my own success."
description (mine): The Outsider (Five of Rainbows/Pentacles) is one of the most heartbreaking cards in this deck. It shows a small child with his hands on a gate that appears to be chained and locked shut. The child wants to be out in the rainbow world beyond the gate.
Interpretation:
The key here is that the gate is not really locked - all the child need to do is push it open. We often allow memories from the past to block us from taking actions in the present. Once we realize that our feelings come *from* the past, we can let them go. When we see clearly, we can open our personal gates and create who and what we want to be.
Affirmation:
"I am willing to experience life in all of it's ups and downs as I follow my intuitive self."
