Comaptative Tarot

(Note: This review was done for a newsletter that I used to send out.)

Gateway is a personal site review of metaphysicaly related sites that I feel may be of interest to my readers. This month I am reviewing Comparative Tarot ~ a review that is long overdue!

I owe an apology to Valerie, the owner of this site and the person behind ComparativeTarot@egroups.com. She does such a marvelous job with the CompTarot e-groups list, and was kind enough to pass along Red Hawk's site for review ... and I was totaly unaware that there was a companion site for her e-group listing! Valerie - I really do read everything that gets posted - how I missed this is beyond me!

Comparative Tarot is a site that presents information on many different Tarot decks. There is a very easy to use key that allows the reader to access each particular Major Arcana card ~ which is then presented as a review of that card from a specific deck. The information is in-depth, informative and fun. It gets you to think and laugh at the same time.

***Note: The same journey can be taken for the minor arcana on this site.

Now comes the section that I really like - the study of the Tarot archtypes! Under the heading Historical/Mythological Valerie's true nature comes out. She is a very giving person who never fails to credit the work of others. This is an important part of her site ~ and she graciously refers the reader with a link to The Hermitage: A Tarot History Site , authored by non other than Tom Tadfor Little (a gentleman who's name is easily recognized as a leading light in the research and study of Tarot history).

We can look forward to future material being presented on Psychological, Numerological & Astrological and Qabbalah Archtypes.

Valerie has also included a section on who the contributers are to CompTarot, complete with pic's and bio's, so that we can place faces and personalities behind the words.

I know that you will enjoy you visit to this site. Please consider also joining the ComparativeTarot list at e-groups. There is a great deal of fun to be had there! :) The basis of the list is discussion of the cards - one at a time. List members post their views of the same card from different decks (I have chosen to post on the Morgan Greer and Osho Zen decks - and it has helped me to get to know these decks better.)

We have list members that are kind enough to share poems, stories and channeled material relating to the cards. And we are at the tag end of the creation of a collaborative Tarot deck ~ no, most of us are not professionals, but we are having a great deal of fun!

Last but not least ~ Valerie creates Tarot bags, which she has on auction at E-Bay. Definitely something to look forward to!

Enjoy this site ~ and I look forward to seeing many of you on the companion CompTarot e-group list.
