Comportfolio Gallery is a presentation of the work of artist Maria Kruse. This is the second review that I have done of her site - an update, if you will, focusing on the wonderful work she has done since the last time we were here.
One of the wonderful selections here is Maria's presentation of her fractal Tarot deck - the Fractal Firebird Tarot. This is a complete deck - Major and Minor Arcana, using fractal imagery. Colorful, vibrant ... and very unique. This deck is very specifically meant to take one into the meditative energies of each card. Well worth viewing.
Maria has continued the technique of fractals into the world of Kabbalah, creating the Kabbalah Meditation Cards. Broken down into the following categories: the Mother Letters, the Double Letters, the Simple Letters and the Sefirot, Maria has gifted us with a very unique way to study/meditate on the energies that we find in the Tree Of Life. I find this to be a wonderful addition to the study of Tarot, complimenting and deeping the understanding of the Tarot cards.
Maria's newest addition is a work in progress, the The Tarot Of The Black Flamingo. She has completed all of the 22 Major Arcana, including quite insightful commentary on each card. Here are a couple of my favorites:
The High Priestess She is the secret and hard won wisdom, she gives us a glimpse of what may lie beyond our sight if we are quiet and true. She is the doorway to that which we carry within ourselves . She is all that will be and she guards her mysteries with layers within layers. Behind her lie the mountains of our dreams and the meanings of our souls journey. We can take flight or dive into the still waters of the seas of our unconsciousness. She shows us how to be still and to wait, how to dig deeper and find the hidden meaning to what, at first glance, might seem shallow and obvious. She reminds us of the vast potential and myriad possibilities that lie within us. She waits, She knows, She is. And all cats love her.
Temperance Lady of wholeness and enough. She balances the flame of art which scars and changes us as she walks into the jungle of our being and heals our hearts. She is the calm in the tangle of our desires and aspirations. Her songs combine these things and out of her magic comes the blending. She carries fire in a taloned basket of ice. Wings of dark obsidian float by her as she walks, clothed in the skirt of many rivers bordered by flames. She walks in the moonlight clad in the ornaments of the sun. The center which remains strong and still as all seems to be wild around her. She brings synthesis and moderation.
