3 4 5 7 6 8 9 10 S This is a spread for all of us - not just the artists among us that weave paints or words into telling pictures. Our choices and actions are the paint that we use on the blank canvas of life. This spread can help all of us explore and better understand our individual paths. I have to say, I found this spread when I was flipping through the LWB (Little White Book) - and it stopped me in my tracks. My eyes fixated on the defintion of position number eight - The Price. This is what we need to give up in order to follow our personal artists path. This hit me in the gut - because I feel that we all pay a tremendous personal price when we choose to follow our intended paths. From the LWB: 1. The Self-Portrait: What is your self image as an artist? What is your relationship with this identity? 2. The Now: Where are you now, while looking at your path with an Artist's eye? 3. The Driving Force: What is the driving force; what feeds the internal springs of your creativity? 4. The Muse: What external factors or forces inspire you? What gets you going? 5. The Block: What blocks your creativity? 6. The Block at work: When you are blocked, what do you do instead of creating? How do you spend (or squander) your time? 7. The Money: What are your views on the relationship between creativity and money? 8. The Price: What you need to give up in order to pu rsue your arists path? 9. Next Step: What you need to do next, to make sure you walk forth down the creative path that you have chosen? 10. The Artist Card: After dealing the nine cards of the Artist's Path spread but before reading it, pace the Artist card as a Significator at the end of the spread (S). This card is You. Accept your creative powers and responsibilities, and your Artist's Path ahead will be clear.

Interpretation: The Seeker's creative self-image is that two-fold: they hold home and family of great importance, and they expect to be able to provide a solid foundation for themselves in both the home environment and financially. The Seeker is currently in a place of change. They have a vision of what they want for their future - a future that is not all that distant. This future is dependent on working in conjunction with others. The driving force for this Seeker is unhappiness - they do not feel supported emotionally, and refuse to move from this place of saddness. A sense of emotional loss - which may indicate loss of reationship - is holding the Seeker back. The external forces that motivate the Seeker are those things that allow them to leave their emotional past behind and move into the future. Working with whatever brings them joy will allow them to feel supported, and will motivate them. The block to their creativity is is that they are stalling - not taking action! Once the Seeker gets moving with their creativity, the pace of their lives will increase, and they will be where they want to be. The Seeker, when creatively blocked, literally "acts the Fool". Their attention is not focused, and they move from project to project on a whim. They ride the currents of the edge of their life, rather than moving into the eye of the storm. The Seeker holds entirely conventional thoughts on the relationship between money and their creative nature. For money to come to them, they must put in the work. This Seeker has a hard time placing monetary value on their creativity. The price this Seeker pays for following their Muse is control. They have to be able to believe in themselves, and become comfortable with creative ventures that may be outside of the "9 to 5" box. The next step of this Seeker's path is to find the truth of their path. To follow the Native American concept of "walking their talk". They need to be true to themselves in their creative pursuits. When they do this, they walk a path of harmony and balance.
