Energy Medicine is one of the finest books on energy systems that I have ever read. Eden's intent is to help the reader attain a higher quality of life by becoming aware of their energies, how they are flowing, where they might be blocked, and realign them so that they function to their highest ability.
Eden has a very specific intent and purpose for her work, which is listed on the cover of the book:
"Energy medicine" is the literal use of energy as medicine. You work with the body's energy to act as a natural healer for it's own systems. You are awakening the healer within. In learning to manage your energy, you learn how to effectively deal with stress, reduce anxiety, and free yourself of many ailments. You are working directly with the system within the body that is being affected, rather than treating random symptoms. The recognition is there that as you heal the wounded areas, it is very possible that old emotional issues, which may be the cause of the body's malfunctioning, will be brought into conscious to also be healed. Through sharing her personal history; client histories; simple, yet specific, exercises; and developing a thorough background of each of the systems that she works with, Eden gifts the reader with an easy to understand, easy to follow system that allows them to take back control of their life. Interspersed throughout the book are artist sketches that show the energy system in the body, and how to follow her exercises. These simple graphics carry a wonderful healing quality all of their own. The systems that Eden works with throughout the book are: meridians, chakras, aura, Celtic Weave, basic grids, the five Rhythms (an elemental, seasonal attribution to Fire, Water, Earth, Wood, and Metal), triple warmer (the meridian that networks the energies of the immune system to counter an invader), and the Strange Flows (the energy that acts as an "inner Mom" to make sure that all of the body's organs and energy systems function as a unit). Throughout the book Eden discusses something called energy testing. This can be done by anyone, anywhere. It can be done alone, or with a partner, and acts as a tool to determine where the body's energies are blocked or wounded. From here we move on to how the affected area can best be healed. Specific strategies are given for many common ailments, such as headaches, allergies, and stress. This book can be used in many different ways: it can be read straight through, specific chapters can be chosen to work with, it can be worked with on an individual basis, or in a group setting. Energy Medicine functions as a resource book, and as a powerful tool of empowerment. It can be used for personal healing, or for work on family and friends. It is a powerful resource for maintaining a clear mind/body connection, can be used to heal existing conditions, and, if used on a continuing basis, can be proactive in maintaining a high quality of mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health.
