Schoolgirl shot in Baton Rouge
April 22, 1999
A 14-year-old girl
has been shot and wounded at a school in Baton Rouge, La., but the
injury is not believed to be life-threatening.
A police spokesman says the girl was shot in the jaw at Scotlandville
Middle Magnet School shortly after 1 p.m. today as she walked
between classes. The shots apparently came from a nearby park. Some boys were seen at the park, and police have arrested one suspect, who is also a teenager. They
are questioning some boys about the shooting.
The girl is in stable condition at a Baton Rouge hospital.
