KANSAS CITY, Kansas - Five boys were charged Friday in the alleged rape and sodomy of 6-year-old twin girls at a day-care center. The suspects, four 13-year-old boys and one 11-year-old boy, sexually assaulted the girls on May 15 in the basement of a day care center and in a shed next door, prosecutors said. The girls were apparently alone in the center and unattended by any adult, police said. The next day, the girls told their mother about the alleged assault and they were taken to the hospital for tests. ``They saw the girls were available and took advantage of them,'' Lt. Doug Hansen said. Two of the suspects are the sons of the woman who runs the day care center and lives next door to the center, police said. The other three are friends of her sons. Each of the boys was charged in juvenile court with six counts of aggravated criminal sodomy. Two of them were also charged with two counts of rape. Four of the boys were in custody Friday night and a fifth was at large, officials said. The day-care center was closed by order of the state on Wednesday.
