How Dance Has Affected Me Outside Of Dance
I feel that I am able to have self-confidence and demonstrate discipline in my art form that carries over into everyday life. Dance has taught me to how to learn how to buckle down and finish assignments and learn how to meet deadlines. It has also helped me in my dance life and with my teaching. I feel that my discipline and dedication to dance has allowed and enabled me to become a dancer advocate to help keep the dancers informed with up coming events and other types of business that occurs in our group. I also feel that dance has helped me become a better citizen by learning how to create friend ships with fellow dancers. This has taught me how create and more fully respect meaningful relationships. I spend many hours a week with the people in my group deciding how particular dance pieces should be interpreted. This helps our relationship and our mutual respect increase as we share and build ideas for one another. The etiquette of a dancer is what helps make a small part of society beautiful. I feel that I have contributed and expressed this “unspoken rule” that dancers share to my students and to those close people around me. My dance partners and I alltreat each other with respect and set an example for our studio and what the expectation should be. I feel as if this has helped me to feel like society is not as corrupt as it truly is.
