MEETING MINUTES FROM 4/9/01:
Members present: Cecil Mullins, Linda Stake, Pat Kelley, Bob and
Rose Furling, Sean Baldwin, Mark Krueger, and Mike Prairie.
Meeting called to order
1. Mike P. was asked to email GSPCA Secretary Sue Clemmons
confirming the club's election of Patte Titus as delegate to the
National Specialty Show. This has been done.
2. Yucca Website: Please contribute to the website and
submit pictures of your favorite canines or hunting pictures to
Doris. Email them to DJKoslow@aol.com or mail them to 36633 N.
21st Street, Desert Hills, AZ 85086. All photos will be returned.
3. CNMBC asked us to move our fall hunt test to mid
September since the Gordon Club got our Halloween weekend and
we've elected to hold our test jointly with CNMBC instead of the
Gordon Club. Cecil, test Chairman, will coordinate with Dan
Jensen. Likely dates will be weekend of September 15 &16.
4. Linda Stake saw an article in the local paper saying
that the City or Rio Rancho is trying to annex the land we use
for our trials. WE MUST FIND NEW GROUNDS. Mike M, Linda and Mark
have looked at a couple of options. Nothing great so far. Any
ideas?
5. Linda Stake is soliciting donations for the cost of
trophies for the May Specialty Show. ($10 donations would be much
appreciated but we'll take anything) These donations off set many
of the expenses involved with putting on the show, not just the
trophies. To date we have received $115 in donations. We are
grateful to those who donated.
6. Treasury: Club Balance is $1349 Our Spring Field trial
lost $378.73 and the Spring Hunt Test lost $292.07. Some of the
expenses for the Specialty show have been paid. The money is
going fast and the club needs a fund raiser. Ideas and
suggestions are welcome.
7. The club decided it wants to hold a snake breaking
session very soon. We'll do it ourselves if we can get a snake.
Bob F. and Sean B. were going to look into options, and Linda is
going to talk to Terry Chandler. The club makes a lot more money
if we do it ourselves, and Mike P. and Mark K. are willing to
handle the snake (and have experience) We need to firm up the
snake breaking plans, rattlers have already been encountered at
the training grounds.
8. We should schedule some clay pigeon shoots at our next
meeting since we now have the launcher and lots of clays. Ed.
Note: could this be a possible fundraiser?
Meeting adjourned

RE: AKC Dual & Triple Championship Titles (DC & TC)
The Delegate body of the American Kennel Club is currently
exploring revising the requirements for a dog to be recognized as
a Dual or Triple Champion. The current rule concerning these
titles requires the dog to be an AKC Champion of Record and a
Field Champion for the title of Dual and the dog to be an AKC
Champion of Record, Field Champion and an Obedience Trial
Champion for the title of Triple Champion. At their December
2000, meeting the delegates approved the addition of the title of
Herding Champion to the requirements for achieving a Dual
Championship. Additionally, the delegates approved the additional
titles of Champion Tracker and Agility Champion to the
requirements for achieving a Triple Champion; both of the changes
will be effective January 1, 2002. The new rule will read
"Any dog that has been awarded the title of Champion of
Record may be designated as a "Dual Champion," after it
also has been awarded the title of Field Champion or Herding
Champion. Any dog that has been designated as an AKC Dual
Champion and has been awarded the title of Obedience Trial
Champion, Agility Champion or Champion tracker may be designated
"Triple Champion."
At both their December 200 and March 2001 meetings, the delegate
body discussed the addition of Amateur Field Champion (AFC) as a
title eligible for being designated a Dual Champion. A number of
Pointing Breed clubs have expressed concerns that the rule
awarding points for a Amateur Field Champion (AFC) differ from a
Field Champion (FC). This difference is perceived as making the
Amateur Field Champion (AFC) as easier to obtain. On the
recommendation of the AKC Delegates Field trial Committee, the
Delegates have requested that the Pointing Breed Advisory
Committee consider and vote upon an amendment to the rule
awarding points for an amateur Field Champion (AFC) to make that
rule consistent with the rule governing points to make a Field
Champion (FC). If such a rule amendment was approved by the
Pointing Breed Advisory Committee, the approval of a dual
championship that includes and Amateur Field Champion (AFC) would
be recognized by the interested Pointing Breed clubs. The 1999
PBAC is considered a standing committee; John Rabidou is the
delegate for the GSPC of America. If this person is no longer
willing to serve in this capacity or the club wishes to select
another person to serve as delegate, the club shall submit three
(3) names for consideration to the Performance Events Department,
c/o M. Sue Richey, no later than June 1, 2001.
Please circulate this issue among your club's field trial
participants for their input. We hope that when the membership of
the Pointing Breed Advisory Committee is confirmed that we can
meet by Telephone conference call to address this matter. As
always, the delegate is the club's voice concerning a matter such
as this. The Performance Events Department will post this
information on the AKC website, www.akc.org
