My Story

Well, here we are again.  I do have more news that might be of interest to some.  The date is 8 January 2000.  I made my appointment in December with my psychiatrist and he decided to increase my dosage of one medication and added two more medications.  So now I am taking Welbutrin SR 150, two in the morning and one at bedtime.  And Paxil 20 mg., one tablet in the morning.  Also Neurontin 400 mg., two capsules, three times a day.  There is Depakote 500 mg., one in the morning and two at bedtime.  Finally, Risperdal 3mg., two tablets at bedtime.  So my daily dosage of these drugs is Wellbutrin, 450mg., Paxil, 20 mg., Neurontin, 2400 mg., Depakote, 1500 mg., and Risperdal, 6 mg.

.

Wellbutrin is my antidepressant, Paxil is a mood lifter, Neurontin is a mood stabilizer, Depakote is a mood stabilizer, and Risperdal is an antipsychotic.

I have more news.  The Social Security Disability Board decided from a court appeal to turn me down a third time as of 27 December 1999 for benefits.  I am not a happy camper.  Here I am a scholar while in college, and they say now that I can follow simple instructions so therefore I can fold laundry for a job in the local market area.  The local market area is 55 miles away from my home.  I suppose my pay, which is a dubious thing, would help pay for my travel expenses.

I still have not been able to write any of my poetry from the time of my hospitalizations.  I lost my writing ability while in the state hospital.  I wonder if my creative juices will ever flow again.  I hope so.

I am still employed at the school as a substitute teacher, but they only call me for In School Suspension.  So I get the "tough guy" groups.  Not a problem, I can handle the situation for three consecutive days.  I do not go for more than three days because I am not sure of myself beyond that.

I have a new pair of glasses and they are about to wear a hole in my nose.  I can never get the nosepieces to fit correctly until they are just about worn out.  Then when it is time for a new pair, they fit.

I have found a Bipolar Support group on the Internet from a situation called egroups.  There are 85 members to the group at present and we can send messages back and forth so that all members can read all the messages.  It is a unique situation for me as I am such a recluse now.  I sit and read the messages but infrequently do I respond to anything that someone else writes.  There is a lot of good information that flows through this group concerning the malady of bipolar disorder.  Members of the group come from Alaska, the rest of the United States, Canada and Australia that I know of so far.
