*****WELCOME*****
I live on the Rio Grande river valley in beautiful NM. With a view of the Sandia mountains from my back yard. The perfect place to raise goats. God has blessed me in many ways since starting my herd in 1992. Raising goats has been the greatest joy of my life. I've had the privilege, thru the years, of starting off many current members of NPGA with purchases from my herd. I did not start with show animals but I quickly understood how important the "breed standard" of NPGA was for showing and breeding purposes. I strive to improve my herd each year. I've mostly kept a closed herd over the years, preferring to produce my own champions rather than buying someone else's winning animals. I'm in it to produce quality animals for others to either show or improve their breeding options.
As a "judge", I understand the importance of structure for all goat breeds. I love teaching and learning everything I can about goats. I put on events for schools in my area that want to come to my farm to learn about these special animals. I've been invited to speak at several schools in New Mexico about pygmy goats. I always bring a kid along with me for show and tell. In college I was able to draw on my experiences many times for essays when required term papers were due. I've watched these animals improve the lives of many of my friends who have acquired them.
I'm very active in the goat world.
I'm currently a judge for NPGA, AGS and NDGA. I've shown and traveled all over the country and participated in many goat events for the last 16 years. The common thread I've seen in the country is the dedication of goat breeders to promoting the goat. I've made some lifetime friends thru my experiences with breeding and showing these wonderful animals. I'm looking forward to meeting other breeders across the country in the future. I'm available on different chat lines to lend a hand or bend a ear as the case may be. The goat community has so much to offer in friendships
and also to be a safe place to raise our kids. I've held many positions in the goat world. Vice president for NMPGC, SWNDGC. Board director for NMPGC. I've run for Region 7 director for NPGA twice. As well as supporting the Judge's training for NDGA.
I'm a current member of 5 goat clubs, NMPGC, SWNDGC, COPGC, SWDGA, and HSPGC. I keep my herd numbers down to about 30 animals. I like to have a personal relationship with each one. I don't feel I can have that with a larger number of animals. I guess that's why people always say how friendly my animals are. After moving back to NM from Oregon in the last two years I've rebuilt my herd. I'm very proud that I've produced 23 championship wins in this last year (2007). All of these were in animals two years or younger. I'm looking forward to meeting you and making new friends in the goat world.
Blessings from Corrales Kid's Ranch! Renee Furst
