Snow
by Thea Kinyon
day and day
"it's all the same fucking day"
snow
and more snow
and a smile on a girl's face
and lowered eyes
glance aside
some poetic soft-skinned girl
couldn't ever have
carpe diem
written on a dusty wall
snow?
and cedar trees
and pinon trees
and dusty washboard roads
and Beatles songs
"black bird singing in the dead of night
take these broken wings and learn to fly
I think it's all the same fucking night
night and night
november nights
and snow
a girls smile
orange from street lamp sulfur
and a leather smoky smell
and another starry night
"this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you"
does the night sway
after the speakers are blown
does the road sway
in the moonlight
december night
"softly spoken lies"
nothing's simple
were the truest things the worst?
"when the shark bites"
say it's like it was
snow
