Summary: Xander and Spike having breakfast
The sounds of bacon sizzleing filled the apartment. The aroma wafted into the bedroom tickling the nose of the sleeping man laying sprawled along the king sized mattress. Slowly conciousness returned to the man as he began to recognize the smell. Grinning to himself he stretched, muscles flexing over his broad chest, tightening of firm stomach muscles before he relaxed again in morning laziness. He lay there for a few moments longer before the demands of his body couldn't be ignored again. Xander yawned as he climbed out of his bed and headed to the restroom. Finishing his morning ritual he slipped on a robe to ward against the slight chill from the air conditioner and made his way out into the kitchen.
He stopped in the doorway for a few minutes to observe the scene. Standing in front of the stove stood Spike in all his naked glory save for a plain white apron that barely covered his front. On the stove were several pans one of which contained the bacon which had called Xander from his sleep.
Stepping into the room he walked up behind his lover and wrapped his arms around the slim waist.
"Morning baby. Cooking breakfast?"
"'Course I am. You was taken so long to get up thought I might give you an incentive." Xander placed a light kiss to the pale cheek next to him and went to sit down at the table. The morning paper was already laid out and he quickly slipped to the comics. Ahhh...how he loved Saturday's.
Xander softly read aloud the funnies as he had done every Saturday morning since he and Spike had first become lovers, while Spike finished up his cooking. As Spike set the table and slipped off the apron Xander reflected on their life.
They had been together for over 15 years. Xander had admitted his true feelings for the blond vampire shortly after he was chipped. In fact, it had been the brief week in which Spike had lived in his basement that had solidified his emotions for him. It had taken them over 2 years to get together though. The hellmouth was a hell of a place to try and get to together. No pun intended.
He remembered the first night Spike admitted returning his feelings. It had been after a particularly hard fight against a small swarm of demons. Xander had gotten hurt pretty badly and Spike had refused to let anyone near him. Whispering words of comfort and love throughout the trip to the hospital. It had not been long after when they finally consummated their relationship.
The years passed. Friends and enemies came and went and the only stable thing in his life had been the naked vampire now sitting across from him dipping his toast in a mug of heated blood. Smiling at the image Spike portrayed, he returned his attention to the newspaper in front of him.
Life was good.
