This review briefly discusses the technological developments which have had an influence on medical imaging technology, in particular Nuclear Medicine. It covers any major development in relevant technology, from the early 1940's until the year 2000. These include the development of the computer, integrated circuits (computer chips), rectilinear scanners, collimators, gamma cameras, software, SPECT, image reconstruction, and the development of networking and the internet.
