For our camp craft, we made stamps out of material that I bought at a craft store. It was flat and looked like a piece of felt so it could be cut with scissors quite easily. The Pathfinders each made one Christmas design and another design of their choice. They glued the material to pieces of wood that they sanded, and when the glue dried, they added water to the material. It was amazing to see the flat material swell up to thick pieces of sponge. They dipped the stamps into finger paints and decorated brown paper lunch bags.
We don't like making crafts just for the sake of doing something. So we asked the Pathfinders to bring in used books or trinkets to a meeting in November. The Pathfinders filled the designer lunch bags with the used items and made "grab bags" for our Christmas Fair. The bags were tied shut with red wool and we made reindeer candy canes to put in the bags as well.
Usually the craft we make for the Girl Guide fair costs our unit about $50.00, but this year, we used our resources wisely, and this craft was very inexpensive. (I should mention that all the grab bags sold very quickly at the fair, and the Pathfinders created some pretty unique designs.)
