When Chef Boyardee was looking for something a little different in their latest advertising campaign, it was Mankind to the rescue!
"We were looking for something to attract a new demographic," said Laura Quinn, a company representative.
Well, they found it in the forms of Mankind and the World Wrestling Federation.
Kevin Sullivan, a producer for the Federation, said that the commercial, shot in a safari motif, features Mankind as a Boyardee-vore.
"There are herbivores," Sullivan said. "There are carnivores. Then there are Boyardee-vores. Mick Foley fits the latter, that’s why Chef Boyardee wanted him."
Mankind is featured in spots pushing Chef Boyardee’s new "Overstuffed" ravioli products, which feature more meat than the previous version. There's so much meat, in fact, that some would describe them as "Mmmm Beefy!"
Foley shot two episodes of the "Feed The Need" commercial. Each will have a six-week run on network and cable television.
Chef Boyardee is even considering marketing Mankind’s likeness on a T-shirt with the "Feed The Need" slogan. Keep an eye out for Mankind’s major commercial airing now throughout the US.
