Football Game Precedures
Before...
- Pick one or two of the loudest people to call all of the cheers. (you may need a piece of paper w/ the names of all the cheers nearby, but use a paperweight b/c it gets windy!)
- Make sure everyone is in complete unifrom and looks neat (bows, bloomers, shoes, socks, poms, make-up, etc.)
- Go to the bathroom!
Beginning...
- Line everyone up on either side of the goal posts and spirit as the players run through. We use our pom poms. For home games, two of us make a big banner for them to run through.
- You can hand out any goodies you might have made to the football players or the other cheerleaders or whatever.
During...
- When not doing a cheer turn around and watch the game. Either spirit or stand with legs at shoulder width and hold your hands behind your back.
- Cheer caller yells "set!" when it's time to do a cheer. Everyone then steps forward with their right foot and does a pivot turn on count 1-2 (so everyone does it at the same time but don't actually yell 1-2). Everyone should now be facing foreward with feet shoulder width again.
- After setting, the caller yells out the cheer name or says the chant (i.e: Go Seminoles Go! See: Cheers ) then says “ready...hit it!”. After hearing "ready", everyone puts their feet together and hands on hips. After hearing "hit it", the cheer is started. Practice thie during practice so everyone gets their timing together.
- After a cheer, make sure to spirit! Do jumps, yell, and encourage the crowd to cheer! That's why you're called a "cheer-leader"!!
- After spiriting, turn back around to watch the game.
- If the players are close to making a touch-down, run to the sideline by the end zone and constantly spirit and yell! One or two individual stunts are ok.
- It's ok for one person at a time to get a drink if they need it.
After...
- Line up behind the football players to say good game to the other players and cheerleaders. You kind of high five but everyone just holds out their hand and touches the other players' hands.
