Tips: -When practicing cheers or just your motions watch yourself in a mirror. You should have a slight jerk everytime you hit a motion. Try to hit the motion as fast as you can and hold it as long as possible before the next (which may only be 1 second but you get the idea). This will make you "tight" and "sharp". If you're a new cheerleader and haven't heard these words before, you will! And now u know what they mean. -Remember, it takes muscle to have good motions. Which means you HAVE to practice to develop the muscles you need. Your arms should be tired when your done or while you're doing them. (that's why cheerleaders have good arms ;P) -Evaluate how you look when you cheer. You should look strong as you hit each motion. If your arm placement is wrong or you're sloppy (not tight) you'll look, well, retarted! -If you're still not sure if you're doing them right, ask your coach or an experienced cheerleader to watch and correct you. Don't be afriad to ask! It's so much better to realize you may be wrong and ask for help then to wait to be corrected. As least then you realize you're not doing it right! Or maybe you are. Either way coaches appreciate you asking, as long as it's at the appropriate time. It's best to ask before or after practice or on a break. -Good Luck! |
