Allomyrrhina dichotoma
Allomyrrhina dichotoma has been captive bred for over 40 years in Asian
countries such as Japan and China. The male imagos have the most intricate
horn formation of all the dynastidae. A. dichotoma females lay ova in crumbled
rotten wood and larvae hatch out in about 3 weeks. These
Larvae grow quickly and prefer a diet of mostly rotten wood. Although a
large beetle, A. dichotoma rhinos take 1 year or less to complete their
life cycle.
