Misuteri Syona is Ceaira's father. He is an archeologist who stumbled upon the tomb of their ancestor, Clow Kayo. He was transferred to the museum in Reidenton, where he becomes partners and best friends with Aiden Avalon, Sakura's dad. Misuteri knows about Aquilia, and hates it when he sees the two fight. Somehow though, Sakura and Li get edgy around Misuteri, for they sense something very odd. His name is japanese for mystery, which seems to fit some of his past. However, his side of the family are the descendants of Clow Kayo.

Mikomi Syona was Ceaira and Hannya's mother before she died, saving Ceaira from being hit by a truck back when they lived in Hong Kong. However, she was hit and died before getting to the hospital. Her ethnic origin is Canadian, and most of the Failen Family lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She possessed no magical powers, but she loved magic otherwise. She appeared once in the GemCaptor Chronicles when Ceaira's memory was erased by the Erase Gem.
