Power's Ploy

The episode begins at night in the park. Something is seen heading toward the playground, and it appears to be huge at first, seeing as what it is left behind as it draws ever so close to the equipment. It stops for a moment before looking over the Penguin Slide, where whatever it is finally sets it eyes at the top. The path near the park is seen next as an earthquake rocks the area, as it sounds like something is being lifted . . .
The next day at Sakura's house, Tori walks out and says good morning to Aiden, who replies and says he's packing a big lunch for Sakura's fieldtrip to the zoo. Tori simply smiles and then begins to joke about it. "Yeah? The life of a ten year old. Must be tough!" Aiden then asks Tori to set the table, and he agrees. As he passes by the TV, the news reporter on it comments about an event at the park the night before. "The beloved Penguin Slide at the park next to the zoo was up-ended last night by some amazing feat of strength." Tori gasps as he hears the TV. "That thing weighs a ton!"
"Morning!" Suddenly Sakura walks into the kitchen with a smile on her face. Tori lost his seriousness then turned to his little sister. "Hey, heard you're going to the zoo today. Are they gonna put you in a cage?" "Very funny Tori!" She then comments about his brain, but then Aiden interrupted before it could get out of control. "Did someone order lunch?" Aiden handed her the lunch he just finished making the lunch, and he handed it to her. "Thanks Dad!" Sakura hugged him, while tori decided to continue his jokes. "Are you training to you training to be a weight-lifter? Or maybe, you're the King Kong of Penguin Park?" "What do you mean?" Sakura looked toward the TV, then cried out and commented how terrible it was, as the reporter continued to comment on the overturn of the slide.
Later after slapping on her skates, Sakura headed down the street toward her destination; the zoo. "How could that've happened? That penguin slide is way too heavy just to get turned upside down. Well it's a good thing I'm going to the zoo. I can check it out and talk it over with Kero when I get home." As she skated on, she passed under the trees, which caused the sunlight to glisten and sparkle. She was captivated by the sight, then continued onward. "On to the zoo." "Sakura!"
Sakura suddenly stopped to see Julian riding up toward her on his bike. He stopped beside her, smiling like he always does. "Hear about the Penguin?" They continued onward, passing by the park, where they got a glimpse of the slide as it sat on it's top. Sakura gasped as she skated. "Who could have done that . . ." "I don't now, but I guess we'd better be on our way to school, or we're gonna be late." "I'm on a field trip." "To the zoo? Lucky you." Sakura then closed her eyes for a few moments, then opened them again and looked back toward the slide, thinking to herself that she wasn't able to sense a Clow Card near by . . .
Later, Sakura and her class were all gathered in the zoo, and listened carefully as Mr. Terrada gave them the instructions. He explained that the field trip was about teamwork and observation, and that each group would recieve a camera so they could try and capture something unexpected as they observed one of the animals. After the camera's were passed out, Chelsea suggested that Madison take the pictures, because she was an expert with camera's. "Something unexpected eh?" "Yeah, that's right. Like that Penguin monster. What do you think happened there last night?" Nikki smiled as she finished her question. As the interest about the subject grew, Sakura started getting nervous, and she began to back off. "Yeah! What if whatever it was is still around here, you guys?" "MAYBE it was a ghost." "Know what? If we found it, we'd get an A+ report for sure!" "Yeah, I can win a Pulitzer with my photo!" Sakura was becoming more and more scared as the others continued talking. She suddenly turned around, and saw the perfect opportunity to change the subject. "Oh my gosh! There's the elephants! Let's go! Come on!" Sakura then dashed off quickly, nearly tripping over her own feet as she ran. Chelsea asked if she liked elephants, then Madison replied with that Sakura didn't really like ghosts that much, then Nikki added that ghosts weren't real.
"Behold, the might sloth!" Li and Zachary's group had just arrived to a cage where inside there was a small grey sloth hanging from a tree branch. "You chose THIS for our report?" "Yeah, they're great animals, really." Li looked away from Zachary, then toward the creature. He lifted his camera then waited for the sloth to do something, which it wasn't doing much of right away. "They're . . .slow to warm up." Li waited, but the sloth still hadn't moved an inch since they had arrived. He became frustrated, then lowered the camera. "How can I take great pictures when it hasn't moved an inch since we got here Zachary?" Zachary simply smiled, then proceeded to tell one of his stories. "You just have to be patient Li. As a matter of fact, sloths are noted for being extremely intelligent. This little fellow has a mind just like a steel trap!" "Hey, is this another one of your stories?" Zachary looked at Li, looking hurt and insulted. "What? You should never judge a book by it's cover, Li. Just think; it watches and knows everything." "Makes sense, I suppose." Li turned back to the sloth then watched as it still failed to do anything at all. "It's true; if you just pay attention, you can learn a whole lot!" He smiled, then raised the camera back up again, then proceeded to wait once more. "Maybe there's hope afterall."
A mother elephant was squirting water through her nose to wash her baby, as Sakura and her group watched. She smiled then with sympathy, commented on how cute it was. Chelsea then commented on how much it was able to lift with it's truck. Rita added that it was only a small portion compared to the tusks. Chelsea then added that they do Tug-of-War's for demonstrations, and that the elephants were very intelligent. Suddenly there was an earthquake which caught everyone off guard. There was then suddenly another blast, which caused everyone else to quickly panic, but it made Sakura wonder, as she was beginning to sense something. Leaves were suddenly blown around by a quick breeze, which as well caused the animals in the zoo to become a bit noisy.
Later Sakura commented to Madison that it was a Clow Card, and she replied with asking Kero about it. Just as sakura told Madison that he was at home, there was a sudden noise from her backpack. She kneeled it down and opened it, when Kero suddenly popped out! "Surrrrrprise!" "Kero, no!" Chelsea and Nikki suddenly turned to Sakura, wondering why she suddenly shouted out like that. Sakura managed to convince the two that the elephants were very noisy. Nikki asked if it was lunchtime, and Sakura agreed, but then added that she and Madison would meet up with them later. The two then suddenly dashed off as fast as they could, then took cover behind some hedges. Kero then climbed out and sat on top of her lunc and smiled, asking if she was glad to see him. "We agreed that you were going to stay home today, Kero." "Well yeah, but this lunch that your dad made...ohh, first there was the sandwich and then the chocolate cookies,...oohh, let me tell you...ohhh, ahhh. See?" Suddenly, Sakura remembered what she and Madison discussed, then quickyl changed the subject, saying she was glad he was there. Kero smiled then lifted her lunch over his head. "Yeah, you got a lot of food! You know, maybe we should just dig in." "Lunch has to wait. I think there's a Clow card around here." Kero then asked about having a small snack, then Madison asked about about if there was anything more inportant than lunch, then he answered no. This caused Sakura to become a little frustrated.
"Ah! It's moving!" Li was finally glad they were getting somewhere, but just as they were about to take the picture, when there was another blast heard, only much louder than before. Li looked around, becoming suspicisious.
As the quake calmed down, Kero asked Sakura if that was what she was talking about. She agreed, then he asked what made her sure it was a card, when suddenly there was a rustling coming from the bushes. They suddenly jumped back when a penguin ran out and out into the public. "Looks like the penguin cage must have broken," "Penguins don't just escape on their own. This is defintiely the work of a Clow Card." There was suddenly another blast, this time however it destroyed the penguin cage, causing all of the penguins to escape. Panic filled the area as innocent people began running away to get out of the zoo. The three knew what they had to do, so they began running toward the source. On their way, they ran into Nikki and Chelsea. "You're going the wrong way!" Madison said they would be right back, then they ran off again.
Li began running off in the same direction, when Zachary suddenly called out to him. Li stopped, then walked back to give him back the camera. "Here, you take care of this." With that Li raced off again, knowing exactly what was going on.
"It's deserted!" "They all ran away!" As they continued to run, Kero mentioned that being all alone was good, considering that they didn't need anyone watching them while Sakura used her magical powers. Sakura then asked about a certain direction, which made Kero happy. "Hey, you know you're getting good at this, Sakura!" Suddenly the group had to stop as a stampede of zebras ran out and in front of them. Madison asked which card it was, and Kero began thinking in his head about what card likes to destroy cages. Suddenly, a blast appeared in front of them, causing the ground to become flatened. Kero commented that it was a fast card, but then pointed in another direction as his attention was suddenly grabbed. Another blast appeared, this time near the mother elephant and her baby. "The poor elephants; they're terrified!" "The card's doing that?" "This is got to be one of the stronger Clow cards, that's for sure." The elephant tried to get away, but then it was suddenly lifted high into the air. This caused Sakura to frown and take out her key, beginning her chant.
      "Key of Clow . . .
      Power of Magic . . .
      Power of Light . . .
      Surrender the Wand . . .
      The force ignite!
      Release!"
The key then began emitting a yellow light, which swirled around her and then entered the sphere of energy the key was inside. It then transformed and began extending, sllowing Sakura to grasp it. She twirled it around and then stopped to reveal it to be the Sealing Wand. She then proceeded to summon Windy. "Windy!" She suddenly slammed the card with the tip of her wand, and a yellow energy bursted and swirled around. "Release and dispel!" Windy's form suddenly appeared, but then disappeared as a strong wind appeared. The elephant was dropped, but was saved by a small whirlwind which gently placed it back onto the ground. "That elephant could've really been hurt!" "It just lifted up into the air...That explains the Penguin slide." Kero suddenly gasped as he realized which card it was. "Ha! The Power card!" He then flew in close to Sakura and whispered into her ear what to do. "Okay, you need to overpower it, Sakura. You can do it!" "What? You sure?" "And move fast; we've got trouble again!"
Sakura and company suddenly turned to see the elephant being lifted into the air again. She frowned, then stepped forward to make her stand agains the card's force. All right, Power card! You've shown off your strength, now put it to the test!" She suddenly hesitated as she became nervous, but then continued, knowing she had to. "I--I dare you to show youself!" Near the trees, Madison and Kero watched as she stood alone against the Power Card . . .whereever it was. "I know she's getting stronger but . . ." "You see, Power's greatest weakness is pride, Madison. And it like to show off." "That's enough!" The elephant was suddenly placed back onto the ground as Sakura made her demand known. The blasts began again, and headed straight for her. Panic-stricken, Sakura did the only thing she could think of; summon the Jump Card. She leaped into the air, avoiding a blast, but then it continued over toward the tree Madison and Kero were hiding behind. They ran off just as the tree was destroyed. It fell over, just missing the two as Sakura landed on the ground. Kero turned around and yelled to Sakura. "Hey, hey! I think you uhh, succeeded in getting its attention!" "You better be right!" Sakura suddenly panicked as the blast began again right behind her. she took off, as did Kero and Madison. He told her that he had to name a contest, and she suddenly yelled out Tug-of-War. The blast suddenly stopped, causing a small child to appear, totally dawned in pink and red. "THAT's Power?" Madison commented that it was some battle costume it had, then Kero added not to be caught off guard by her innocent looks. Power smiled, then looked over toward the fence which was attached with a rope.
Later, Sakura and Power each held one end of the rope, then the Tug-of-War began, with Power gaining an early lead. No matter how hard she tried, Sakura was unable to maintain her footing as she was pulled by Power and her awesome strength. Madison watched as Kero shouted out to Sakura. "Use the Windy card! Come on, you've got to use Windy to capture Power!" "I'm a little busy here, Kero!" "You can do it, Sakura!" Sakura struggled even more until she noticed that she wasn't even moving. she looked back to see the mother elephant was pulling on the rope as well. Sakura became hopeful, then turned back and continued pulling the rope. Power noticed that they were starting to regain ground, so she smiled then pulled on the rope more, regaining her lead. Sakura and the elephant continued to pull, with Kero and Madison only able to watch.
"She'll never pull this off." Up in the tree, Li was watching the competition, with his sword in his hand. "Time Card . . ." He then raised his sword as it became dark all around him. "Freeze the moment!" He suddenly slammed the tip of his blade against the card, causing all of time to temporarily freeze. He then leaped down from the tree, and pulled the rop out of Power's hand. Li then returned to the tree and unfroze time, causing Sakura, Power, and the elephant to fall to the ground. Sakura got up, then looked over to see Power getting up from the ground as well. Kero and Madison were just left there, totally shocked. "I can't believe my eyes!" "Me neither!" Sakura then suddenly began jumping up and down in joy, with her wand in her backpack. "All right! I did it! I did it!" But I didn't do it alone; thank you so much!" She turned to the elephant, who let out a triumphant cry with it's truck. Sakura then approached power, and held the wand above her head. "Now return to your power confined...Power." She brought down the wand, causing Power to burst into a pink energy which formed the form of the card. Sakura picked it up, and commented that she was finally getting the hand on the whole thing. Kero agreed, then Madison mentioned that she really was a CardCaptor. Up in the tree, Li watched her, then turned away and looked up toward the sky. "You're gonna need a lot more strength than that, Sakura . . ." He then leaped out of the tree and out of sight.
Sakura turned back to the ground and smiled, still holding the card. "There's just a little bit of business that I'd like to finish off first." Kero nodded, then gave a big smile. "Yeah, boy am I ever hungry!" Sakura leaned over and groaned, making Kero ask her why she did that. Madison then smiled and held up her camera to her friends. "Sakura, are you thinking what I'm thinking?" "Huh?" Sakura simply looked at her friend with confusion, wondering what Madison was plotting.
The next day, Sakura skated by the park, then stopped and smiled as she saw the Penguin Slide back to it's proper place. she then looked up ahead to see Madison carrying something. Skating over to her, she asked if what she had was the photo's from the field trip. Madison nodded, then Sakura gasped as she saw one of them. "NO Not that one!" "Why not? It's a great shot!" "Just don't show anyone, okay Madison?" "Okay." "Hey, have a good field trip?" The two suddenly turned to see Julian coming to a stop beside them on his bike. They agreed when a suddenly gust of wind appeared and blew a picture out of Madison's hands. Julain managed to get it, but then looked and became confused. Madison and Sakura panicked as he asked what was going on. Sakura fell over (anime style) from panicking, then Madison quickly made up that it was done on her computer. Julian was relieved, then commented that Sakura would have had to be a magiciain to pull off the picture, which was in fact, her lifting the slide over her head.

Comments

This was a funny episode at times, especially Power's appearence. (Defiantly Kero's expression applied here.) This episode also shows Sakura's fear for the first time. Did you notice Li's starting to beomce nicer to Sakura? I mean, he let her take the credit for the capture! That was pretty nice of him, considering how he treated her before this point. Zachary's reputation is also shown once again here, only he goes more into detail with his stories. One more thing, we also saw Nikki's character go a little more into development, as it was commented on how she likes ghosts. Overall, pretty good episode.
