Sakura's Rival

The episode begins with what seems to be rippling water, then Sakura's outline appears, which shows that she appears to be sleeping at the current time. "Oh no . . .not again . . ." She implies that she may have had this dream before. A large tower appears. In the distance is a young boy standing near the tower with many objects floating all around him. "That kid . . .that tower . . .Kero!" She suddenly cries out as the small creature turns to look with one eye, then the boy appears again. "Oh no! He's got the Clow Cards!" He seems to be watching the cards fly around. He suddenly narrows his eyes then jumps off the building. He leaps down toward the ground, sword in hand. The rippling affect appears again before the scene changes to Sakura gripping her head. It is morning and she is unable to wake up. Suddenly, Keroberos flies over trying to wake her up. She finally does, only to see him right in her face. Sakura panics and swats him away. He falls over and tumbles a little before landing. "No doubt you have a perfectly logical explanation for that." "Oh, sorry." He gets back up and asks what's wrong, then she starts to talk bout her dream about the strange boy. Suddenly however, the door opens and Kero freezes to assume the role of a stuffed animal. Sakura's older brother, Tori, walks into the room and looks around. She says shes up, then he goes on to mention that he heard voices. She giggles nervously and picks up Kero. "Everyone knows stuffed animals can't talk Tori." She then sets him on the shelf along with the other animals. He sighed to himself and looked at Kero. "I think you're really losing it Squirt." She then tells him to get out and throws a pillow at the door, which closes before Tori is hit. Kero then groans and mumbles something to himself about Tori, when he suddenly walks back into the room, causing Kero to suddenly freeze. Tori says he's leaving in 10 minutes, then he looks back at Kero. Tori then leaves the room, and Sakura breathes out a sigh of relief, as does Kero.
Sakura opens her window and looks outside, wondering why she keeps having that strange dream. Kero flies over to her and tells her not to worry, becuase she has a bigger responsibility, then she asks what. "Capturing the Clow Cards" "Yeah I know . . ." "But do you really Sakura? Listen kid, you gotta expect things . . .when you least expect them." she looks at Kero and blinks twice, wondering what he means by what he just said.
Later that morning, Aiden, Sakura's dad, calls out to her that she better hurry up. "I'm coming!" She is then seen putting on her inline skating gear. She rolls out the door and jumps down onto the pavement and skates off. "Wait up Tori!" Her father tells her to be careful as she skates off. "Tori!" She skates around a corner then down the street until she sees her brother on his bicycle. She stops beside him to catch her breath, then he looks at her from the corner of his eye. "That's what you get for staying in your room talking to yourself." "Tori!" she glares at him as she continues to skate beside him. "I was not!" Tori looks up ahead to see someone. "Hey Julian!" Sakura gasps and looks up ahead as well, then smiles. Julian then waves and says hello. The three then continue to their schools, with Julian riding a bicycle as well. "Sorry we were so late, but the Squirt was having a deep conversation with herself." Sakura doesn't pay attention to Tori, for she is staring at Julian and smiling, because she has a crush on him. Julian turns to her and asks if Tori has been bugging her again, and she agrees. Tori frowns then continues to to try and get to her. "I can't believe it. She's 10 years old and still talks to stuffed animals." She tries to defend herself, then Julian asks is she's alright. She mentions having a strange dream, then he mentions about them telling unexpected information. Sakura recalls what Kero said, then Julian goes on to say he had a dream of having french toast, and then he did before leaving! The two guys laugh and Sakura nearly trips as her school comes into view.
"Another video camera Madison?" She smiles then talks about it being new. Sakura mentions something about chrome insulation or something, then Madison mentions how noisy they were. They then say hi to their friend Rita before Mr. Terrada, their teacher, walks in and asks the class to take their seats. He looks at his books then asks if they had a good weekend. "I have a surprise for you today. We have a new exchange student joining our class, Li Showron." Madison then looks to Sakura and asks why they would get an exchange student at that time of year. The student then walks in and Sakura gasps. A shot of the student is shown, and he seems to be staring at Sakura. "That's the kid from my dream!" Madison mentions this and Sakura nods nervously. Mr. Terrada then tells Li to sit behind Sakura, and she panics. He walks over then stops and stares at her again before sitting down. She wonders what's with Li and why he's staring at her that way.
At lunch, Li and Sakura are in the yard, where he is holding a strange board. He then closes his eyes and begins chanting. "Source of light with ancient spin, send forth the magic power within. Oracles of Gold, Wood, Water, Fire, Earth, Clouds, Wind, Rain and Electricity . . .Force, know my flight, release the light!" A beam of light shoots out from the board and hits Sakura. She seems to be frozen as the beams keeps her in place. Li glares at her then jumps back. "It is you!" She gasps and asks what he means. He reveals that the device is a Lasin Board, and that it knows all. He then demands her to hand over the Clow Cards. She refuses, then he demands again. She then says she's capturing them for Kero. He asks if she means Keroberos, and she agrees. He then puts her down by asking why he is letting her do it, then she goes to say she accidentally released them. He then asks if they all did, then if she got any back. "Yeah. i'm working on it!" "And you call yourself a CardCaptor? That's pretty pathetic." She asks again how he knows about the cards, and he refuses once again. "But I'm taking over!" He then demands once more time and she says no. They then get into a fight and Madison comes and tries to stop Li. Tori then appears and he and Li face off. Suddenly, Julian appears and for some reason Li runs away.
On their way home, Madison and Sakura talk about asking Kero about Li. "He's the guardian of the Clow Cards. i'm sure he's planning our next move right now." "Yeah, you're right." Suddenly clouds appear in the sky bring on lightning. The two take shelter in the penguin slide, but then Sakura wonders why it isn't raining. A bolt of lightning suddenly strikes a street light, then a few more before chasing a man down the sidewalk. The clouds then disappear and they begin wondering what it was all about
At home, Sakura rudely wakes up Kero then tells him about Li. He tells her not to worry about a schoolyard scuffle. She then says he tried to take the cards. Kero then begins telling her about Clow Reed and the Cards, but then at the end mentions that Li is Reed's descendant. She gasps and panics. "If Li's a descendant of Clow Reed's family, then I should have given him the cards in the first place!" "Nope, doesn't work that way." He then tells her she was the chosen CardCaptor, thus she is entitled to them. The cards then appear out of the book and dance around Sakura, making her happy. The phone rings and Sakura picks it up. Madison then tells her to look out the window.
The clouds have returned and the thunder was rumbling. they figure out it's a Clow Card, then they meet in the park. Sakura is now wearing a new battle costume. "I don't know Madison, pink frills?" "It's not pink, it's not pink, it's cyber rose!" She then tells her about the rubber that will protect her from the lightning. Sakura sighs to herself, then summons the Fly Card. She and Kero take off, and Madison records the flight on her video camera.
Up in the sky, Kero asks if Li had any magical devices, and Sakura mentions the Lasin Board. Kero frowns. "That could him him an advantage which could be a little problematic for us." She begins to doubt the situation, but he tells her that she's the rightful CardCaptor, and that'll catch the card before Li arrives. Suddenly, they are attacked by the same lightning bolt that struck down earlier. Sakura avoids it then flies down to land on a building. Kero states she must transform it into it's original form. She asks how, but then the lightning comes back. She summons Jump and runs away. She then jumps up onto a tower like building, where Li appears. "Force know my flight, release the light! Lightning!" He uses his sword to cast a spell of lightning which causes the bolt to fall and hit the roof below. He then leaps down and Sakura reconizes that scene from her dream. She then leaps down after him, where they discover the card's true form. "You are looking at Raijuu, the Thunder Beast, boy you are pathetic." "Back off!" Sakura tries to use the Windy Card next, but Li tells her it will be useless against what is now revealed to be the Thunder Card. Kero gets angry at them, so Li asks about the Shadow Card. He then uses lightning again, causing the creature to be knocked off the roof. Sakura runs up to the edge and summons Shadow. It wraps around Thunder and traps it inside a dark shell. Sakura then leaps down to stand in front of the card, then raises her wand. "Shadow! Release and dispel! Return to your power confined!" The two then become energy, and then are sapped into a square shape on the end of her wand. Two cards appear and land on the ground. "I did it . . ." Sakura sighs and picks up Shadow and Thunder, then Li walks up to her and puts her down again. Kero steps in to defend her, and then Sakura reveals to Li that Kero is the guardian beast. He then becomes shocked as he can't believe it. "Keroberos? The guardian beast? The greatest beast of all . . .the beast with the golden eyes . . .is a stuffed animal!?" This annoys Kero so he bites Li's finger. "Serves you right!" Li tries to get Kero to let go, which he finally does. He then says the two are a joke and walks away. Madison passes him then runs over to Sakura. She asks what's wrong, then tries to cheer her up. "Hey you pulled it off . . ." Sakura is still staring at the ground, holding her two cards. "Yeah, but this is only the beginning."

Comments:

Those who were a fan of the series when it aired in Japan will know this is in reality, episode 8 of the series. However, it was an okay episode to start out with. However, people will want to know how Sakura got the Shadow Card, and how she got her powers, plus Sealing Wand and other cards. Other than that, it was a neat idea to start with the episode that shows Li first arriving. However, let us hope he's not portrayed as the main character in the future, because originally, it's called CardCaptor Sakura in Japan.
