The
Valkyrie Class is my own designation for one of the Voyager
concept diagrams, Design Definition Phase II Type 3a, to be
exact. During the design phase of determining the look of USS
Voyager, this Nebula Class type of variant was sketched by Rick
Sternbach.
What would normally be the Captain's Quarters on an Intrepid
Class has been replaced with a forward facing shuttlebay.

The
primary and secondary hulls are from the Voyager kit. The warp
pylons and engines are from the Runabout kit. Sheet styrene made
up most of the rest of the design, with leftover kit pieces to
flesh out the details.
The intakes on the front of the pylon structures are clear
plastic from office fluorescent light covers. They were painted
a gradient of Testor's fluorescent paints.
The basecoat is airbrushed Light Ghost Gray. Phasers are painted
Dark tan. RCS Thrusters are Gloss Orange and Copper. Escape pod
hatches are Sand.

The
Runabout engines were lengthened to look appropriate to the
design diagram, so sheet styrene was used to both lengthen them
overall and also to add to the height. The Runabout clear
grilles could no longer be used so ribbed Evergreen plastic
painted Mat Sky Blue was used instead.
The weapons pod and connecting neck section were scratchbuilt
from sheet styrene and Evergreen plastic.
The Valkyrie's impulse engines are the saucer units from a
1/1400 Galaxy Class.
Voyager's large bow sensor was cut along its length and glued to
itself to become the 'fin' sensor piece on the top of the pod.

A
lower cargo/shuttle bay was constructed complete with balcony
and doors.
The craft, overall, boasts 3 docking ports, 4 shuttlebays, 3
personnel hatches, 17 phaser banks, and 5 torpedo launchers.
