I am a 43 year old physician with vitreous floaters which became noticeable 10 years ago. My ophthalmology colleagues have not been helpful, indicating that vitrectomy is too risky. What I've done is try to adapt my problem by various means - I've found that rose or yellow colored sunglass lenses can minimize the wavy distortions but don't do anything for the larger fuzzy floaters. In my work office I have dark wallpaper that makes them less noticeable. Also, I found that bright fluorescent lights should be avoided.
My floaters have worsened gradually and I expect this to continue. If they worsen to the point where I can no longer concentrate while reading, then I will consider seeing a retina specialist who has done many vitreous removal surgeries.
