It seems there are quite a few of us out there suffering with floaters. While the condition may be worrying, irritating, annoying and for some even threatening (it might be related to retinal tears), it is reassuring that most people either do have them or will eventually develop some. And it is international - I am Swiss, 57.
A few days ago we had a management meeting at the big corporation I work for. It was in a huge conference room with a room-wide window wall facing open skies. Then I noticed a number of people, myself included, almost fighting for the seats with backs toward the windows. When remarking this to my neighbour he responded with a story about floaters. The same came from the others - and all of us were in our fifties, wearing glasses and well under stress.
So, what do we learn from this?
Everybody has got them, you can live with them, relax and it becomes less bothering. However, have regular checks for any changes, in particular on the retina.
Good luck to you all!
