Finally Josh sank to the ground, coming to rest face down, the unfired gun still grasped in his hand. Matty looked in shock as his own hands, his finger still lay on the trigger. Rachel slowly stood up. Matty raised the gun and aimed it towards Nick who stood a few feet away. Rachel rushed in front of Nick, not really thinking about her actions. The onlookers watched in interest as the young girl, who had helped kidnap Nick, put herself in the line of fire to save him.
“Matty if you shoot him, you’re gonna have to shoot me too. This wasn’t the smartest thing we did, huh?” She smiled at her brother, “Don’t make this worse, we’re in deep enough.” Matty’s arm wavered, and he finally let the gun fall to the floor. Without hesitating police officers rushed towards them. Matty was pushed to the ground as his hands were cuffed behind his back. Rachel was also handcuffed and pulled roughly away from Nick.
“Nick, man. Are you okay?” Brian asked, running towards his friend and embracing him. “I’m fine, but could you untie me?” Nick asked, looking past Brian, to where Rachel was being told her rights.
