After the initial design drawings were completed
by Albrecht Goertz and Kazuo Kimura, a 1:4 scale model was sculptured in
clay to give a better idea of how the design would look in real life.
After the work was completed on the 1:4 scale model
a full size model of the Silvia was built. The Silvia was the first car
to be designed in Japan using the full size clay mock-up technique.
Once the details of the design were finalised the
production of the prototypes began.
These are two photographs of a 2 plus 2 (4 seater)
prototype that was built in 1965. This photo shows the different frontal
treatment they were considering, with a different grille design and almost
rectangular headlights.
From the side you can see that the car has a longer
wheelbase than the regular Silvia. In this photo you can see that the car
has a slightly longer door, also the distance between the rear of the door
and the wheelarch is significantly greater. The rear windscreen is pitched
at a slightly smaller angle. The 4 seater is certainly less attractive
than the regular Silvia, which is probably why it never reached production.
