Man what a trip. It was all the BTI offices around the world coming to Southampton for a Staff Travel Day, and going on powerboats on the Solent.
I left Ottawa on July 1st (Canada Day) and connected through Chicago and arrived in London at 730 am July 2nd. I had went to the Holiday Inn with two other employees from the BTI office in Montreal. That morning I had slept and showered and by 2 pm had gotten up and walked around Southampton on my own. I had walked near the Cruise Port and also the Southampton Walls. Just taking photos of anything as I was only there for 2 days.
That night we had supper and had a few beers and watched Live 8 Concert live from Hyde Park in London, England. Robbie Williams, what a guy LOL. By 1 am I had went to bed as Sunday was going to be a long day.
Sunday we had a gathering at 930 am and they were 58 of us about. We were given a map, book and questions and we had to solve questions to get points and to get to our lunch meeting and to try and come in 1st place. Well my team came in 5th place out of 7 teams. The powerboat was going very fast, as we solved clues and took photos it was alot of fun. There were 7 people per boat plus the skipper and 9 powerboats.
By 2 pm we had stopped for lunch on the Isle of Wight.
There the streets were so small and the cars were also so small. From atop where I was having lunch you can see many sailboats and people enjoying their Sunday afternoon on the Solent.
The boats were about 40-50 feet long, and went very fast. My boat had people from BTI UK and also BTI Germany and BTI USA. It was fun meeting all of these people and having a great time in these powerboats. By 530 pm the day was over and by 8 pm I had got together with 7 people and had supper. By 1200 am I had called it a night and by 730 Monday July 4th I was heading back to the airport. The flight was really bad as we had bad weather over Manchester, UK. Finally 1230 am Tuesday morning I was home. It was a great trip and I really liked it.
