Day 5 (8 Jan 99) Odometer 111683 kms. After another long night of the starting the car every couple of hours, I headed southwest for Thunder Bay at 0800 (EST). Stopped in what used to be called Fort William and Port Arthur, where the sleeping giant lives, (127 kms) and topped with gas, coffee, sandwich and a whiz. Drove to Dryden, Ontario (349 kms). GEEZ what a big province! At about 1630 hrs (CST) I finally arrived in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Headed for my brother's place (Gary & Brenda) on Roslyn Road in the middle of downtown Winnipeg at rush hour. Oh what fun we're having now!! (363 kms). Haven't seen Gary in about 3 or 4 years. Saw Brenda last year in Fox Point at Peggy & Pierre's place. Great to see them both again. Gary talked the building superintendant into letting me park my poor little block heaterless car in the indoor (HEATED) parkade... |
