As we get closer and closer to SussexSpite 2, I thought it would be a good idea to introduce my latest Flea Market Finds. That way, I have a clean slate when it comes to the SussexSpite finds. Frankly, its been a great month for finds, with the local markets surprisingly delivering. Who knew?

WrestleMania III Video - $5
Bigger! Better! Badder! One of the biggest events of all time, and my third favorite WrestleMania, WrestleMania III featured the timeless classic of Hulk Hogan vs. Andre The Giant. I already have a copy of this event, but it was released in 1997, and there were some things edited out. This was my first find of the day, and you can imagine my anxiety about leaving it in the trunk for the day. Thankfully, the power of WrestleMania proved to be greater than the sun.
Yoda Micro Machines Playset – 10 Cents
Ah the good old 10 cent table. The bust of Yoda opens up and reveals an Ewok village. Sadly it doesn’t have any accessories, but still it was a dime. Plus, I’d say the bust alone of Yoda is worth picking up. At least its cheaper than looking for one on eBay.
M.A.S.K. Book – 10 Cents
Another treasure form the 10 cent table. I haven’t actually read the book yet, but I’d say its safe to assume there’s some sort of mystical power that Venom is looking for in the Andes. M.A.S.K. will try to stop them, somehow end up with the power themselves, and then the power will disappear. Hmmmm, I should check that out.
Game Genie - $3
This was easily the greatest of all Nintendo accessories, easily beating out the Power Glove or AC Adaptor. Mind you, if you lost the book, it was utterly worthless. The seller tried to get $5 for it, but I explained to him that it wouldn’t be worth that much. Mind you, that was after I explained to him what it was in the first place. Thank goodness for the Internet, where I easily picked up the codes I needed. Mind you, I still suck at Double Dragon.
Batman Magazine - $2
Basically an official magazine for the first movie, outlining various points of interest. Not much else to say. Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?
Biker Mice From Mars Christmas Video - $1
I tried to work them down to 90 cents, as that was all that I had besides a twenty-dollar bill. Sadly, they came equipped with change for a twenty, thus I had to settle for a dollar. Still pretty darn good for a dollar. I never actually watched this show when it was briefly on, nor had any figures. The complete selling point was the Christmas aspect of the tape. I’ll tell you how it turns out, as I don’t plan on watching it until at least November. Somehow Christmas specials lose that certain magic when watched in the summer.
G.I. Joe Cobra Battle Game – Free
Well, the first thing I liked about this game was the price. Wow, what a surprise. Its missing most of its pieces, but the box is good for display purposes at least. At last year’s SussexSpite, I passed on the same game that was about in the same shape for $5. Glad to see my patience paid off.
G.I. Joe Headquarters - $10
Probably my biggest find of the day, with a great price to boot. I’d say its about 85-90% complete, only missing some minor pieces. I picked this up at my favorite table, where I’ve got most of my big finds this season. The base is from 1983 and is in incredible shape. A fine place for any Joe to hang his hat…and shoot lazers.
G.I. Joe Skystriker and Snow Serpent - $8
A G.I. Joe headquarters wouldn’t be complete without a Skystriker. Mind you, that Snow Serpent looks like he’s planning on taking the Skystriker when nobody’s looking.
G.I. Joe Bed Sheet, Sassette figure, Puffy Stickers, and Garbage Pail Kids Cards - $2
I picked these up at the same table, and I got everything for an even twenty bucks. Like I’ve said before, nothing says 80’s like puffy stickers. We’ve got Star Wars, ET, and Go-Bots ones included. The Bed Sheet goes nicely with my other G.I. Joe sheet. The Garbage Pail Kids cards are downright awesome, and I think I am the only living person left in the world that is still amused by their movie. I still remember my stock going down when I showed that at second year university. Finally we have a mini figure of Sassette, the only other female Smurf, introduced in 1985. I always found her a little annoying, but hey, she’s cheap! Man I love that table!
Comics - $28
Wouldn’t be a trip to Penhorn without me picking up comics. We’ve got some issues of Avengers and whole bunch of X-Factors. Not that I really have any room anymore.
Burger King Glass - $2
I’m really starting to like picking up glasses from various restaurants. This’ll go well with my McDonalds Batman Forever mugs, and my Demolition glass.
Crash Dummies Truck and Spin figure - $4
I absolutely loved these toys when I was a kid. I still remember getting the Crash Center for Christmas back in 1993. Anyway, the truck isn’t complete, but is still pretty badass. Also included was an original Spin figure. Man, I gotta set a ramp up and launch these guys into the kitchen cupboards.
Donkey Kong and Video Pinball Atari Games - $2
I still haven’t played these almost a month later. Well, that was money well spent. I need to get a new cord for my Atari and get that badboy set up. Still doesn’t take away from the fact that I’m not very good at these games. I don’t know what it is, but some of those are hard. While others, like ET, make no sense.
Double Dragon III video game - $5
Another game for which the game genie can assist me with. However, the game still basically no-sells the game genie, only allowing for minor health and life codes, as opposed to popular codes like invincibility or infinite lives. Damn those Lee Brothers!
Referee Shirt - $1
Wow, there was no way I could pass this up. I was actually tempted to wear this to an indy show that was to take place in Berwick. Picture it, the ref is knocked out and the face has the pin. Suddenly a guy in a leather jacket hops the barricade and takes his jacket off, revealing a ref shirt! He counts 1, 2, 3!!!! Because I would be a fair and impartial referee anyway. Just ask my friends from Backlash 2001.

He-Man Figures - $2
This was a huge find for two reasons. First, because these five figures were in excellent condition, with the original Skeletor and Stinkor coming with original armor. Also, Dragon Blaster Skeletor came complete with all accessories. The other reason why this was so huge is that I picked these up at a yard sale in Greenwich similar to the Flatmouse Flea Market. I usually don’t find anything this good so close to home.
Ridder Head Mini Playset – 50 Cents
I find it kinda creepy how much this thing looks like Jim Carrey. Anyway, this opened up to reveal the Riddler’s hideout from Batman Forever, complete with 2 Batmans and a Riddler. Not really sure how the Riddler is supposed to defeat one Batman, let alone two, but maybe I’ll find some other mini figures around. I think I have a mini Shredder somewhere...
ALF books – 50 Cents
Let’s see, in these two books, ALF comes to Earth and goes to Summer Camp. Luckily for ALF, he’s not going to Camp Arawak. Although it’d be pretty funny to have ALF around to make wise cracks at various parts of the movie.
Batman and Robin Mugs - $1
Another case where you really can’t argue with the price. I already have both of these, but its always nice to have a few glasses in waiting, just in case the first glass doesn’t live up to their responsibilities, yadda, yadda. And don’t say it’ll never happen. We all remember what’s her face. You know...Click Click!
Gremlins Board Game - $1
From the back of the box: The Gremlins are coming! The Gremlins are coming! Travel with Billy through the town of Kingston Falls, warning the citizens of the Gremlin danger. If you reach a destination and find Gizmo in your backpack, you’ve made it in time, but if you find Stripe there instead…make tracks! The first player to successfully reach five Kingston Falls locations, wins the game! I’m not really sure why you’d forget having Gizmo in your backpack or why people wouldn’t believe you about Gremlins even if you have one in your backpack, but I’m sure it makes for a great game. Can’t be any worse than a Full House Board Game.
Smurfs Cards – 25 Cents
Sadly the instructions for the game are lost in the sands of time, and I have no desire to try to figure out the complex rules myself. Hmmm, now that I look at them, it seems there are several cards with Smurfette dressed in various costumes. I may have to keep these out, heh, heh!

Stripe, Sectaur, Foot Soldier, and Mailman - $5.50
I really only wanted Stripe at first, but it was one of those dealies where the price went down as you bought more figures. So I decided to pick up the Sectaur and Foot Soldier to go with it. The Mailman I found in another box, and is one of the Ghostbusters Haunted Humans figures. His name escapes me, so I’ll just refer to him as Newman. Newman goes postal, and turns into a scary ghost. Well, not that scary. After all, I ain’t afraid of no ghosts!
Knight Rider Stamp Set - $1
This was a huge find, and I was scared that my gasp of amazement would give away that I really wanted it. Thankfully it didn’t. A great find here, as it is still in its original package, 23 years later. Kinda sad that for all these years in package, its value hasn’t gone above $1 CDN.
G.I. Joe Tactical Battle Platform - $5
Another great Joe find from my favorite table. He was also selling his USS Flagg Air Craft Carrier, but to say that I don’t have room for that is a bit of an understatement. In fact, I’d say it’s the ultimate understatement.
Dr. Doom Secret Wars Figure and M.A.S.K. vehicle - $3
Picked these up at the same table. Is there anything he can’t do?
Comics - $30
Another great week for comics, including Avengers, Uncanny X-Men, X-Factor, and Marvel Two In One among others.
LB and Two Bad Figures - $2
Now here’s something else, an LB figure! I actually had to look up his name, as its been a number of years since I last saw Teddy Ruxpin. Two Bad is another one of Skeletor’s unique minions. I don’t recall his backstory, but its safe to say that he’d one bad mother you don’t want to mess with.
McDonalds Pails - $1
I’ve been going to the beach a lot, perhaps I should bring these with me next time I go. After all, chicks dig McDonalds pails. I think I heard that somewhere. I really only picked these up because the Professor was on them, indicating that they were from the 1980s. Good enough for me!
Masters Of The Universe Board Game – 25 Cents
The sticker actually said $4, but we arrived as they were packing up, so she said it was 25 cents out of the blue. I pounced on the game immediately, and was quite pleased with myself. Looking at the game itself, O’Brien pointed out that Battle Cat’s mask had been removed and that Skeletor could easily guess that Prince Adam was indeed He-Man. Pretty sloppy Mattel.
Wow, what a great couple of weeks at the flea markets. Sure I don’t even remotely have any more room for the items that I buy, but why should that stop me? We are less than a week from SussexSpite 2, so I’d say its safe to assume I’ll be running out of even more room that I no don’t have. Gotta beat those Inferiors! That 80s stuff is mine!!!!!
