Aquilia's Story
Unlike most of the other characters, Aquilia`s involvment with the Kayo Gems took place long before the chest was opened in Cairo. She was born into a family of mystical bird creatures like herself, only the were all of different colors. Aquilia was the youngest of five brothers and four sisters, but it did not seem to affect her as she maintained a positive attitude her entire infant state.
Seven years later, Aquilia was finally old enough to venture and explore the world of ancient China on her own. One day as she explored a garden of a family of magicians, she heard the sounds of two creatures. Upon invesigating, she discovered a golden lion and a black panther play fighting. As she wandered over, the two noticed her and stopped. The three had a short stare off before the lion finally introduced himself and the panther to be Keroberos and Spinel Sun. When Aquilia asked what the two were doing, Spinel replied that they were in training to gain the attention of the Clow Brothers. Being curious, Aquilia then introduced herself and asked more questions, becoming more and more interested in the family of Clow.
More years passed, and the three continued to train hard until Aquilia was called to the Clow Mansion. Upon her arrival, she met up wityh a strange girl with the wings of a dragon, and a battle costume, shoulder length hair, and eyes of a green color. She as well had poink lipstick and a long trident.
Just then, a man with a cloak covered in silver crescent moons, golden stars, and bronze sun symbols, slightly spiked brown hair, and green eyes. He had a warm smile on his face as he made an important announcement; Aquilia had been chosen to become Clow Kayo`s guardian beast, while the other being would become the second guardian. Aquilia was then introduced to her, and that`s where she found out her name was Sabaki, and she had come froma large family of winged guardians. The two then became friends, but not as close as Aquilia seemed to be with Keroberos and Spinel Sun.
The mystical bird could not hold in her excitement as she raced on the wind toward the home of Keroberos, where she found the two relaxing in the sunlight. She then announced her being chosen to become the new guardian beast of Clow Kayo, and the two were happy for her. She then also mentioned that she found out Clow Reed was still looking for a guardian beast. The two then became excited, for they still had a chance to aquire the same status as their feathered friend.
Aquilia`s duties were now in full swing. She was given a new power to aid her in protecting his new talismans currently being created by his magic. She and Sabaki would train together to become stronger, as well as they would get to know each other better. Sabaki was then appointed a judge should a new mistress be found after Clow Kayo, and her type of judgment would be entirely up to her. Aquilia was curious, for she wondered what Clow Kayo meant about a new mistress in the future . . .
However, friction was building in the Clow family. It seemed that after Clow Reed had chosen Keroberos, the two brothers seemed to start argueing over the slightest details. It seemed like it would blow over at first, until Clow Reed used his new magic against Clow Kayo. This new magic were the Clow Cards. Kayo knew he had to fight back, and fortunatly for him, he had just finished his own creation; The Kayo Gems. The feud became serious and long, with Aquilia, Keroberos, and Spinel Sun struggling to maintain their strong bond of friendship. It was through this that Clow Kayo was inspired to create three final gems; Hope, Love, and Friendship. He had hoped that these three would cleanse his brother so they would stop fighting, but Clow Reed wouldn`t give up.
Time passed and Clow Reed had passed away due to an illness from fatigue. Aquilia was called to the Clow Mansion by Kayo, and it was then she found out that he had contracted the same disease as well, so she must be sealed into the chest. Clow Reed`s descendants may want to find the Clow Book and use it`s magic against Clow Kayo`s descendants. The Kayo Chest needed the guardian beast to protect it should it become disturbed, and Sabaki had already been sealed away into it. This was shown by the dragon winged star symbol on the bottom of the chest. She was told about how he had seen the future, and that two with magical powers of the sun and moon would open the chest. Aquilia was then told of the consequences of her new powers, in that they were connect to the powers of Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, and Star. should the gems bearing those powers become lost, her shape would decrease and transform into a weaker state. It was a great risk, but Aquilia honorably accepted it plus all effects of the possible consequences. It was then she was sealed into chest, causing the image of a mystic bird to appear on the lid.
About thirteen hundred years passed since then, when Aquilia was finally awakened, but it was not to a pleasent site. She saw a tornado of magical energy engulfing the entire chest, and someone screaming in the background somewhere. She then panicked as she was not able to get out of the chest because of the energy, which forced to watch as the Kayo Gems transformed into spheres of energy which traveled through the walls of the room, and into the sky. Then, the energy storm stopped, and everything was quiet. Aquilia knew it was time to surface.
Clow Kayo was right it seemed, as she found herself not in her original form, but the form of a small blue budgie. It was the least of her worries when she looked up to see a teenager with brown and blond hair, and purple eyes. Aquilia was a little relieved, for she sensed the sun element from her. But then it struck her; The gems were all gone! So she did the only thing she was capable of thinking of from all the frustration in her head; she bit the girl`s finger.
The next day, Aquilia was taken back to the Syona apartment, where she told about the past involing herself, Clow Kayo, and the Kayo Gems. She was as well informed by Ceaira and Misuteri about the changes society had gone through in thirteen hundred years. But what plagued Aquilia's mind was the location of Sabaki, and where the one with the Moon Element was. Asking the girl about a second being with the element, she found out that she, Ceaira broke down and cried at the question of Hannya, and Misuteri explained to the bird that she had passed away four years before. Aquilia was then saddened, but told Ceaira to cheer up, and know that Hannya was in a better place.
Time passed and Aquilia was introduced to cupcakes, starting her obsession everyone knows well. It seemed to be the basis of her three meals and snacks. However, one night after seeing a report on shooting stars flying across the eastern skies, she was shocked as she recognized the shapes of the stars. She concluded they were the Kayo Gems released by Ceaira, and that they were all leaving Egypt. When Ceaira asked where they were heading to, Aquilia came to the conclusion that she was unsure.
After deliberation, Aquilia knew she would ahve to give Ceaira a chance. So she brought forth one of the magical talismans of Clow Kayo, which was the Kayo Crossbow. Ceaira was reluctant at first, but accepted it as she knew the small bird was putting all of her trust into him. Misuteri accepted the fact that his last daughter would have to fight future dangers.
Suddenly, a surge of energy shot through her as she began to sense something strange. Flying to the window, she saw the Firey Gem's true form flying over the city of Cairo. Ceaira and Misuteri followed, and Aquilia turned to the young girl to tell her it was her responsibility to capture it. Ceaira agreed, but then went into her closet and pulled out her trademark battle costume. Aquilia knew the costume well, confirming that Ceaira was indeed one of Clow Kayo's descendants.
A few hours passed due to the chase Firey forced the two of the Kayo lineage into, but after Ceaira's plan and successful capture of her first Kayo Gem, Aquilia knew that Ceaira would make an excellent Gemcaptor. They returned to the apartment, where they celebrated.
Weeks passed, and Aquilia gave up in locating the rest of the gems. She concluded that they must have fled east toward the continent of Asia for out of all the magic's in the world, it was strongest in China and Japan. Misuteri then announced that they would be moving to Japan. Reidenton would be their new home for his job was leading him toward a large museum there.
Upon arriving, Aquilia sensed a gem right away. Ceaira knew what she had to do, so shw dawned her costume and headed out into the new city to locate it. Time passed, and Aquilia became worried. She decided that she needed to find Ceaira and see if she was okay. Taking flight, she searched the city until she finally found the teenager, sitting atop a building and staring at the gem she had just captured; Amazon. The twoconversed about the situation and hidden identities until they felt it was time to go home.
This brings the story up to episodes 3 and 4 , where Aquilia appeared to the other CardCaptors and introduced herself. Now you know the story behind the story behind Aquilia, the Clow Feud, and the cause for the Kayo Gems creations. You as well know the reason for Love, Friendship, and Hope, plus Aquilia's relationship with most of the other guardians.
