Episode Eight

Rainy Days

It was two mornings from when the Dark Gem stole the daylight hours, causing everyone to sleep longer. Through searching, Sakura, Li, Madison, and Aquilia disappeared because of the dark portals, which captured them one at a time. Ceaira and Kero managed to find the source of the dark power, which was a black panther, which attacked them on sight. After a long chase, Ceaira faced off against the panther knowing if she didn't seal it back into it's gem form, Reidenton would never see the light of day ever again. She then combined Firey and Watery into a duel elemental attack, which incased the panther inside a blast of heat and liquid energy. Since it was then weakened, the others reappeared. With Li and Sakura’s help, the three combined their powers of light magic together to strike the final blow, which allowed Ceaira to finally seal the Dark Gem. After catching up on their sleep, the gang managed to stay sharp in school. Outside that day, the rain was coming down very quickly just like some of the days before. Ceaira was in her history class, staring out the window, then looking toward the clock as it ticked closer and closer toward 3 PM. The teacher was at the front of the class, taking about World War II. "As you can see, Canada and the United States joined the other forces as they fought against Germany and their allies. After arriving on the beach of . . ." "Please, let the bell ring . . .please ring . . ."
Ceaira rolled her eyes back and leaned forward to let her forehead fall onto her desk. As she groaned from boredom, Hope leaned over and poked her shoulder. "Psst . . .we've only got ten minutes left in this class Ceaira. Think you can take your nap later before the teacher catches you dozing off?" "Don't worry, I'm not gonna go to sleep. I'm just resting my eyes, that's all Hope." "Yeah right. Look, you've only been here a month, but I can still tell when you're about to doze off from total boredom." "Well excuse me!" Hope giggled, but then gasped as she looked at Ceaira, and pointed toward the board. "Head's up. Teacher alert." "Huh?" Ceaira frowned, then turned toward the board as well to see that the teacher had stopped his lesson, and was staring right at her with an annoyed expression on his face. "Ms. Syona, is whatever you're talking about with Ms. Anderson more important than the lesson?" "No sir . . .I was just . . .umm . . .asking Hope if she could decipher what you were talking about." "Sure you were Ms Syona . . ." "She was sleeping Mr. O'Neil!" "Mujaki!" "That wasn't very polite Mr. Yotukan." "Whatever sir . . .I was just telling you what I know." "She would have told me the truth sooner or later. I don't need students talking for others."
     "Watch out Li!" "OUCH!"
Li quickly shoved his fingers under the cold running water from the tap and frowned as Sakura giggled. For them it was cooking class and they were attempting to make an oriental dish. He then removed his fingers and began drying them off with the cup towel. "I warned you about the water Li." "I know . . .are we finished yet?" "Yup! All the dishes are washed and everything is cleaned up and put away." "Finally. You have no idea how much I hate this class." "You've only told me about a hundred times Li." "So?" "So you've proven your point." "I guess so." "Is he alright?" "Sure he is Rita." "Good."
Suddenly, the bell began ringing just as the clock struck 3 PM. Everyone in the school cheered, then rushed out of their classrooms and toward their lockers. Sakura grabbed her math book and stuffed it into her case before picking up her roller blading gear. "Wonder if I can still roller blade home with all of this rain. What do you think Li?" "I think you should maybe take it easy, even though with the amount of rain we've already gotten today . . .and yesterday . . .and the day before that . . ." "Seeing as a lot of water evaporated, well, according to the city anyway, all of this rain makes sense." "Really though. So maybe I'll just carry this stuff home." "Bit of a ways to go to carry all of that stuff and not have anything over your head, Sakura. How about I come along?" "Sure Li, if you want to." "Okay." "Say, where is Madison?" "At Drama practice." "Okay. I forgot today is Thursday. She would have been here by now if was any other day." "Right." "When is they're play going to debut?" "In a few months, if nothing goes wrong." "Awesome. Are you coming over today to work on the presentation part of our project?" "After supper. I just remembered, I have some other homework to do, and my mom is calling this afternoon to see how we're doing, so I can't walk you home." "It's okay, I'll manage. Don't forget to tell her about the Kayo Gems." "Okay. See ya later!" Li waved, then closed his locker and walked off down the hall toward one of the exits, while Sakura watched him. She blushed to herself, and then heard a giggle. Turning around, she saw Ceaira opening her locker. "Young love, how cute!" "HOW LONG WERE YOU STANDING THERE!?"
Ceaira became nervous, so she held up her hands in front of her to defend herself. She then began taking a few steps backwards as Sakura looked pretty angry. "I just got here, but I saw you blushing, so I looked and Li was walking away . . .so I figured that just maybe . . ." "I don't like Li like that . . .besides I was staring at the guy with the blond hair." "Oh." Ceaira smiled, and then looked down the hall to the guy she was referring to, and then giggled. "Yeah, he's good looking." "Keep your hands off. You've already got someone remember?" "That doesn't mean I'm not allowed to look . . ." "And another thing, you're 17!" "So?" "So he's too young for you." "Whatever Sakura." She smiled, then turned back to her locker and pulled out her helmet. "So, is everyone doing well?" "Pretty good." "I'm so excited, Tori and I are going roller blading this weekend . . .that's if the Kayo Gems don't get in the way." "Yeah, really though." "Sure is raining hard. Got an umbrella?" "No, but I actually wasn't expecting it to rain today . . ." "How naive the young are sometimes." "HEY!" "Just kidding, but you're going to get soaked." "I'll be fine, but I better get going now before it gets worse." "Okay, talk to you tomorrow." "Bye Ceaira." After picking up her inline gear, Sakura walked toward the nearest door and exited, then began running down the street as fast as she could so she wouldn't get totally soaked.
Looking out the window, Madison sighed to herself as she continued to sew a costume. It was a long blue dress with short puffy sleeves and frills at the bottom. Laying beside her was another costume, only it was a bright green vest guard like shirt, with long black stockings and a dark green skirt. On the floor were knee high boots along with a dark green hat with a picture of a star on the top. Beside everything was a long dark green cape with a large collar. As Madison hummed to herself while she sewed, an older girl walked over and sat down beside Madison. She had shoulder length black hair which curled out at the ends, and a purple bow tying up some of it in the back. Like everyone else there, she wore the school uniform. Picking up the other costume she carefully looked it over. “I don’t remember something like this in the play.” “It’s not. A friend of mine drew a picture, and the girl wore that costume. She asked if I could make it for her, so there it is totally finished.” “Very cool. By the way, we’ve both been in this club for a month, but didn’t introduce ourselves. I’m Kara Yanagisawa.” “Madison Taylor. You're Nikki's okder sister aren't you?” “Nice to meet you, and that's me!” The two shook hands and smiled, then Kara jumped back up onto her feet and placed the costume back down beside Madison. “Well, gotta go see if they need help with the props. Talk to you later.” “Bye Kara!” Madison waved as she walked off, then turned back to her costume and began humming a tune to herself quietly again.
Holding the case over her head, Sakura ran through numerous puddles as she hurried up the walk toward the door to her house. “I’m home!” Sakura pulled off her soaked shoes and tossed them onto the mat. After hanging up her coat, she went upstairs and tossed her school case onto the bed. She then walked into her closet and came out a few minutes later putting on a black vest over her red shirt. “How’s it going Kero?” “Great! I’ve almost beaten the possessed knight in my Zylon Warriors game!” “How many days did you spend on that battle?” “Oh, about three.” “Hmm, makes me wonder if you’re as good at games as you say. It only took me a few hours to figure it out.” ”WHAT!?” “It’s easy! You just had to use the Flame Saber.” “But I didn’t get the Flame Saber yet.” “Oh well. Any ways, I got homework to do, so keep the volume down on the game okay Kero?” “Yeah sure . . .” Kero frowned, then pressed the button on the remote control to turn down the volume. Sakura smiled, then picked up her case and sat down at her desk. Pulling out her Math book, she groaned to herself as she started working on the assigned algebra problems. “I hate math . . .”
“Sure is raining a lot out there. Are you sure you won’t need a ride home later Tori?” Aiden ate a spoonful of the chicken soup which was cooking on the stove as Tori pulled on his jacket and grabbed a bag of clothes. “Don’t worry, it’ll probably let up later. Besides, it’s just my job. I’ll be fine.” “I’m worried because they’ve issued a flood warning because of all the rain. The dam at the reservoir could overflow you know, it’s already at a dangerous level they say. You have to pass by there right?” “I’ll be fine. Where’s my supper?” “On the counter.” “Thanks dad.” Tori placed the packed meal inside the bag, then headed for the door. Aiden frowned and turned back to the meal cooking on the stove, then turned back to the door when he heard Tori yelling. “By the way if Ceaira calls, tell her I’ll call back at nine!” “Okay Tori! Have a good time!” “See ya dad!” The door opened and closed, then Aiden tasted some more of the soup. He then pulled up his sleeve and checked his watch.
A while later, Sakura breathed a sigh of relief as she closed her Math books and leaned back in her chair. “That took longer than I though. Math is hard . . .” “Well you have to take it. CardCaptors need to know as much as they can about the world.” “I guess you’re right Kero. I just wish this was Art homework or something.” “Well, just take what is thrown at you. That’s what I always say. What doesn’t kill you can only make you stronger.” “Yeah, I guess so Kero.” “Well it’s true. The Clow Cards didn’t kill you, and because of that you become stronger through mind and body each time.” “Well, I at least learned how to run and skate faster!” “See my point?” “I also remember sometimes we had to learn skills to fight some of the cards, like when Li and I faced off against the Freeze Card. . .”
“You have to think of the ice as your friend.” Miss Mackenzie skated beside a younger Sakura as she attempted not to fall at the ice rink. “See, you’re better already.”
“I remember Miss Mackenzie suggested an ice skating trip . . .I was excited at first, Li of course was wondering why skating . . .especially when Mr. Terada had already suggest the Art Museum . . .but when we arrived and got to skating . . .” Sakura closed her eyes and thought back once again to what happened.
“EVERYONE! GET OFF THE ICE . . .” Before he could finish, Mr. Terada was suddenly incased in a giant block of ice, followed by Madison and everyone else inside the rink, leaving only Li and Sakura free. “It’s the Freeze Card!” Suddenly, a giant hale like creature appeared below the ice and began sending chunks of ice up at the two. After a long struggle and a lot of speed skating, Li and Sakura came up with a plan. “I'm gonna draw Freeze out. You look for a chance to seal it." Li skated off, making sure the card followed him. Sakura prepared the wand, and when it finally emerged, she sealed it. The card went to Li, and after he received it, all the ice disappeared, but no one had any knowledge of what happened.
“If it wasn’t for those lessons, then the Freeze Card would have probably finished both of us off, as well as all of the others at the rink.” Kero nodded as he crossed his arms and began floating in mid-air. “Everything in life has a purpose which leads to a greater purpose. Miss Mackenzie knew that best of all back then.” “Yeah . . .”
Sakura smiled, then looked out the window at the pouring rain and sighed to herself. “I wish I could go outside, I hate being cooped up.” “I don’t care whether it’s raining or not. If I want to go outside, then I can.” “Well guardian beasts can’t get sick right?” “Yeah.” “So what would you have to worry about anyway? People can usually catch colds from rain, which is why I usually don’t go outside unless it’s in the summer.” “I see your point.” “You know . . .” Sakura closed her eyes, then looked over at the wall where a picture of her, Meilin, Madison, Li, and Kero hung from three years ago. They were all being crazy and making peace signs. “I wonder what other skills we’ll have to learn in other to capture the gems . . .” “Who knows Sakura, the only way to find out is to wait until those days come to us.”
She nodded, then started putting her books back into her school case. When she placed the case back on her desk, her cell phone began ringing. Hoping it was Li, she jumped up and ran over to her night stand where there was a giant stack of clothes. “Great, why do I keep such a mess?” Rooting through the laundry, she finally found her cell phone. Pressing a button, she held it to her ear and sat down on her bed. “Hello?” “Hey Sakura!” “Oh hi Madison! How was Drama practice?” “Well, they didn’t need my today because it was a scene that my character doesn’t appear in.” “So what did you do?” “My other job. Made another costume for the play. Also . . .”
Over at Madison’s house, she walked over to a chair and picked up the green costume, holding it in front of her while she held the phone to her ear. “I’ve finished your new battle costume for the next gem!” “Really? You’re getting quicker at this Madison.” “Well I have a lot of practice.” “I see what you mean. You make tons of costumes.” “And as long as there are battles for you to fight, there will be many more costumes to make!” “Cool. So what’s up?” “Besides the falling rain? Nothing really.” “Really though.” “I heard on the radio there’s a flood warning out for all of Reidenton.”
Sakura walked over to her window and looked outside, seeing that the puddles she had to run through on the way home were now much larger than before, and as well they appeared to be much deeper. “No kidding. The puddles are huge over here!” “It never rains like this . . .” “Must be one of those rare things.” “Yeah, the weather acts weird once in a while. Remember that freak snowstorm we had near the end of March last year?” “Who could forget that? School was cancelled four days in a row! It was the best!” “Yeah, so all of us made a snowman as big as the house!” “Thank goodness for ladders.” “Yeah, no kidding.”
Suddenly, Sakura felt something shoot through her head as she looked toward the reservoir, which caused her to gasp and stumble backwards to fall and land on her bed, dropping the phone beside her head. Kero panicked and flew over to her as she stared at the ceiling for a few minutes before finally blinking. When she did, she realized she was still on the phone for she could still hear Madison on the other end. “Sakura! Are you there?! What happened?! Hello!?” Sitting up, she picked up the phone and inhaled deeply. “Yeah, but something’s wrong.” “What is it?” “I just suddenly felt this strange power . . .emitting from the area that the reservoir is. It happened when I looked that way. I wonder . . .” “Wonder what?” “Hmm . . .I wonder if it’s a Kayo Gem . . .” “A Kayo Gem? Should we tell the others?” “I don’t know where Ceaira is really, and I think Li might still be on the phone with his mom.” “Are you saying you’re going to take it on by yourself!? How will you seal it?” “Don’t worry, I’ve got this figured out. I’ll be over to your place in ten minutes okay?” “Alright. I hope you know what you’re doing.” “I hope so too.”
Sakura pressed a button, then placed the phone back on top of the laundry. She turned to Kero then stuffed him into her school case. “You’re coming with me to Madison’s Kero!” “Hey! Wait a second!” “Too late!” Closing the case, she ran out of her room and headed downstairs. Aiden was still at the stove, only he was now making some bread. Hearing Sakura, he looked over and smiled. “Dad, I have to ask you something.” “Okay, by the way, supper will be ready in fifteen minutes.” “Great . . .see, that’s what I have to ask you about. Is it okay if I go over to Madison’s for supper? She needs some help with an English assignment.” “Well . . .sure. Just be home by 8 o’clock.” “Sure thing dad. See you later!” Smiling widely, Sakura raced over to the door and pulled on her shoes and jacket, then grabbed an umbrella as she raced out the door and down the walk toward Madison’s house.
A while later, Sakura had just gotten there, and after getting her stuff off, the two headed up to Madison’s room where she handed Sakura the new battle costume. After a few minutes, Sakura returned wearing the costume, only now the cape was tied with a giant green ribbon. Looking over, she gave her best friend and Kero a weird face, for the guardian best was smirking to himself a little. “I look like a retro vampire Madison!” Madison closed her eyes and giggled, then picked up her camera and began filming. “Well, I wouldn’t exactly call the look a RETRO vampire . . .” “Great . . .” Sakura laughed nervously as she looked out the window back to the reservoir. Closing her eyes, she began sensing the power. Opening her eyes, she looked toward Kero who was sitting on Madison’s pillow. “Okay, here’s what we should do. Kero, you fly around the cit and find Ceaira. Then go get Li. Take the headphones with you too. Madison and I will head over to the reservoir. Now Madison, you bring the cell phone to keep in touch with Kero.” “Right.” “You got it Clow Mistress.” “Let’s get going!”
The three nodded in unison, then Madison and Sakura headed out of the room and down the stairs while Kero flew out the window and out into the city. After leaving the house, the two girls raced through the streets. When they realized no one would see then, Sakura removed her Star Key and held it in front of her. “Key of Star . . .Power of Magic . . .Power of Light . . .surrender the wand . . .the force ignite . . .Release!” Streams of energy appeared and swirled around her. At the same time other streams were flowing into the key as it spun around in mid air. It then began to extend. Sakura grabbed the mid-section then twirled it around until it was at full size.
“Fly Card release!” Slamming the card with her wand, a pair of wings grew out from the star of her wand, which allowed Sakura and Madison to hop on and take flight. As she filmed the flight, Madison turned to Sakura and frowned. “So you know what you’re doing Sakura? Don’t forget, Aquilia and Ceaira warned us the gems are more powerful than the cards were.” “Stop worrying Madison, as long as nothing happens to the plan, then everything will work out.” “Okay Sakura.” She frowned, then looked back out forward as they continued to fly through the sky. Up ahead, the reservoir finally began coming into view. “Let’s do this!” Sakura pulled up on the wand, then they began flying lower as they prepared to fly in for a landing on the platform far ahead.
“Forty-five . . .Forty-six . . .forty-seven . . .” Ceaira brought herself up as she successfully completed another sit up. She and Aquilia were in her room doing their daily exercises after supper. As Ceaira continued her sit up’s Aquilia was doing some aerobics. “One and two and three and four . . .stretch those wings out birdies! Five and six and seven and eight . . .almost done Ceaira?” “Just gotta finish up this set.” “Okay!” “Ugh . . .fifty!” Ceaira fell onto her back, then sat up and stretched out her arms. “Wow, that was some workout.” “Well we ate a huge supper.” “Good point.”
Suddenly, there was a loud tapping sound. Looking around, Ceaira saw Kero banging against the window. She got up off the floor and opened it, allowing the small beast to fly in. He then landed on her desk and began catching his breath. “Ceaira . . .so glad you and Aquilia are here.” “Why? Is something wrong Kero?” “You bet! Sakura and Madison are heading for the reservoir thinking there might be a Kayo Gem there. I have to find Li before I can join them!” “Are you serious?! A Kayo Gem?” “Yeah!” “This is serious. As soon as I change into my battle costume, then we’ll come help you find Li.” “Don’t forget the headset’s Madison gave you! It sounds like we might need them!” “Okay!” Let’s hurry up!”
Back at the reservoir, Madison was making last adjustments on her video camera as Sakura placed the Fly Card back on her pocket. Stepping out onto the platform, she gripped the Star Wand with her right hand, and then placed her left hand to her face. "Kayo Gem! If you are here, show yourself to me!" "Be careful Sakura!" Madison lifted the camera to her face, then backed up quickly to hide behind a group of barrel's. Sakura stepped forward and twirled her wand, then brought out a card and held it in her left hand. "Where are you!?" "Why, here I am little girl . . ."
Sakura gasped as she saw a cloud appear in front of her. She jumped back as the cloud began taking shape, holding her wand in front of her. When it's stopped changed, the figure was revealed to resemble a man of native American origin's carrying a staff with a rain drop shaped crystal attached to the top, with blue tassels hung off both sides. The man was wrapped in a cloak with the symbol of Kayo on the back, and he as well had dark grey skin and white hair. Looking at Sakura, he frowned and smirked to himself. "What a pity, you're nothing but a weak little girl in an unusual costume . . ." "Don't under estimate me! I'm the Mistress of the Clow Cards!" "Ah, so you are one of Syona's allies. I am the Rain Gem. I was expecting the GemCaptor, but if you are allied with her then you must be eliminated too!" "Don't count on it Rain!" "Wanna bet little mistress?" Rain smirked, then leaped into the air and twirled around his staff. A dark cloud appeared above Sakura's head, which then caused a green rain to fall. Sakura gasped, then grabbed her cape and pulled it over her, causing the rain to fall onto the cape. She heard numerous hissing sounds as the rain hit the fabric, causing her to shut her eyes. Suddenly, the sounds ceased, and she poked her head out to see the rain had stopped. She suddenly heard a voice, then looked over to see it was Madison. "Be careful Sakura! That looked like acid rain!" “Acid!? Better star fighting back or I’ll be hurting later . . .” Keeping the cape over herself, she quickly let the cards fly through her mind as she thought of which one would be good against Rain. “Think Sakura . . .you fought Rain before . . .wait a minute . . .Watery!”
Sakura quickly stood up, and threw out a card and slammed it with her wand. “Jump!” Small wings appeared on her boots, and she leaped up into the sky just as another blast of acid rain flew at her. “You’re going down! Watery Card! Attack the Rain Gem!” Throwing out the card, she began to descend back toward the ground. She then raised the wand above her head, and Rain held his staff in front of him and fired another blast of acid rain. “WATERY! RELEASE AND DISPEL!” Sakura gripped the wand tighter than before, then pulled it down from above and slammed the back of the card. A blue energy bursted out of the image and flew forward toward the acid. It managed to break through, but just as it was about to strike Rain, he waved his hand and a barrier appeared, stopping Watery and transforming it back into a card. IT took flight and returned to Sakura, who had just landed on the platform. “Just great . . .what else would work against Rain!? Madison! Do you have any idea’s for an attack!?” “I don’t know, but use the Shield Card now!” “What!?” “Look out!”
Sakura quickly turned around to see that Rain was once again sending a blast of acid at her. Quickly, she took out Shield and slammed it with her wand, causing the acid to slam against the dome. However, it was very strong, so it caused the shield to move back. Sakura was caught off guard by the blast, so she fell down onto the ground hard. “Oww . . .” Rain smirked, then rushed forward to leap into the air. Once he reached his vertical peak, Sakura panicked as she saw he had the end of his staff pointed right at her head. “SAKURA LOOK OUT!” “Sword Card release!” Slamming another card, a dark blue energy engulfed her staff and transformed it into a sword. She then rolled out of the way, but her cape was suddenly caught by the staff as it slammed against the ground. Laughing maniacally, Rain kept the staff down against the cape so she could not escape. “Oh no!”
Running down the street, Ceaira stopped at the corner and leaned against a lamppost to catch her breath. “It’s times like this . . .I wish we caught the Dash or Fly Gem . . .” She then looked down at her watch, then turned a small dial on her pink headset and adjusted the small microphone. “Kero? Can you hear me? I can’t find Li yet, how about you?”
High in the sky on the other side of town, Kero placed a paw to his head as he listened to the transmission. “Not good, Aquilia and I haven’t seen him yet. He’s not at his apartment, and he’s not at the school or soccer field.” “Well we have to find him soon! Who knows what kind of trouble Sakura might be in!” “Where’s Aquilia!?” “Checking the area near the reservoir in case Li is on his way!” “You’re near the reservoir!? Is anything happening there?” “Sakura and the Rain Gem are locked in battle!” “Who’s winning!?” “Give me a minute.”
Aquilia lowered her wing from the headset, then looked down at the reservoir, and saw Sakura trying to free herself from Rain as his staff held her cape to the ground. She gasped, then held her wing back up to the headset and adjusted the volume. “Rain is winning!” “WHAT!? Okay Aquilia, please do me a major favor and help Sakura fight Rain! We’ll try and find Li!” “Yeah! Help her!” “Okay! I’m on the way!” Aquilia removed her wing as the transmission ended, then inhaled deeply as she looked down at the battle below. “Here we go! Hang on Sakura”! She flew up into the air, then stopped and extended her wings out and shrieked into the sky. She then leaned forward and dove down toward the battlefield below.
“Let me go!” Sakura pulled at her cape as Rain slowly approached her. His staff began to glow, transforming as the light remained until it disappeared to leave a sword in his hand. He smirked, then kept his foot on the cape as Sakura continued to pull. “Farewell to thee Clow Mistress. I’ll give my regards to the GemCaptor before I finish her off too.” His smile was pure evil as he raised the sword over his head, causing Sakura’s eyes to widen as she gasped.
Suddenly the two heard a shriek in the sky, causing them to pause and look around. A few seconds later, a blue streak flashed by Rain, and he suddenly dropped his sword and stumbled backwards. Sakura did the same as the cape was freed, causing her to fall to the ground. “What was that?!” “It’s me!” Suddenly, Aquilia flew up from the reservoir, smiling at Sakura as she was glad the CardCaptor was safe. Flying over, she perched herself on Sakura’s left shoulder and flapped her left wing in the air. “You must fight back while he is down! Use the Freeze Card!” “Why Freeze?!” “Freeze can cause Rain to solidify, thus buying Ceaira and Li some time to get here! “Okay!” Sakura nodded, then turned to face Rain as he started to get up from the ground.
She held the card in front of her with her eyes closed, and turned the image outward to face away from her. She then tossed it forward and then began twirling the Star Wand. “Freeze Card . . .use your powers against the Rain Gem.” She finished twirling as the card stopped in front of her. She raised the wand above her head, then brought it down, causing the point to slam against the card’s image. “Freeze Card! Release and dispel!” Waves of energy and light appeared and travelled outward as she held the position. A pale blue light suddenly emerged from the card, swirling all around her.
From the reservoir water’s, a cold mist moved in quickly and surrounded Rain, causing him to slowly become trapped within an icy shell. After he was completely crystallized, Aquilia let out a cheer of victory as Sakura leaped up into the air. “Excellent work Sakura. Now we just have to wait for Ceaira and the other’s to arrive.” “What do we do for now?” “Make sure Rain stays frozen.” “Okay . . .” Sakura nodded, then turned serious as she and Aquilia turned back toward the frozen spirit.
“What?! She’s not here?” Li’s expression clearly showed he was shocked as he stood upon the doorstep of the Avalon household. Aiden was standing at the door, a little confused at the current situation. “I’m sorry Li, but Sakura went over to Madison’s house before supper. She said something about going over there to help Madison with an English assignment. Want me to tell her you were here?” “Sure, thanks Mr. Avalon.” “See you later Li.” Aiden smiled, then closed the door as Li made his way down the walk. He looked upset as he turned a corner and headed down the street, his hands in his pocket as it continued to rain. “Something’s wrong here, she’s not the type to change plans like that.”
As he turned the next corner, Ceaira suddenly appeared and banged into him, causing both to fall onto the ground. After a few moments, Li recovered and looked up to see Ceaira rubbing the back of her head. “Ceaira! What are you doing here?!” “I’m looking for you! Sakura’s in trouble!” “WHAT!?” Li quickly jumped up from the ground and helped up Ceaira. “What’s going on?” “She’s fighting the Rain Gem alone at the reservoir!” “What!? That explains the rain . . .” “Well, let’s get going! There’s no time to change into you battle costume at this point!” “You’re right. Let’s hurry.” The two nodded, then raced off down the street toward the reservoir.
Time passed, and Sakura checked her watch then looked back up at Rain, who was still frozen. Aquilia ruffled her feather’s from the rain, then looked toward him as well. “I hope the other’s will be here soon.” “Same here . . .” Suddenly, they head cracking sounds from nearby. Looking around, Aquilia became terrified when she saw the ice trapping Rain was beginning to crack. “Sakura! Get ready. He’s going to attack again!” “What!?” Just as Sakura shouted out, the ice broke away, and Rain shouted out into the cloudy sky. He then looked straight at Sakura, and then picked up his sword. “You will pay for that!” Right after he finished, he screamed out and charged forward, swinging his sword in front of him. Sakura screamed and backed up, then ducked down and covered herself with her arms and wand. “LIGHTNING!”
Suddenly, a giant bolt of lightning appeared from the sky and struck Rain in the back. He screamed out and froze from pain before falling to the ground in a crumpled corpse. “What?” Sakura looked up, and smiled when she saw her opponent had fallen. She looked to her side to see Li running up to her. He kneeled down and helped her up from the ground. “Are you okay? Did it hurt you!?” “No, I’m fine Li. Where’s Ceaira?” “Right here.”
Ceaira smiled as she walked over to the three, then stepped in front of them as she lifted her crossbow and took aim. “Time to finish this. Rain Gem, return to your power confined!” Pulling the trigger, a white arrow shot out and soared across the platform until bursting into a cloud of light which engulfed Rain’s body. It morphed and shrank in size until it took the form of a Kayo Gem. Falling to the ground, it bounced over, but instead of the usual action, it went right over Ceaira’s head and landed in Sakura’s hand. Everyone was shocked as the image of the rain shaman appeared below a cloud releasing a rain storm. “What the heck just happened?” “How did Sakura get the gem?” “Yeah, I’m not a GemCaptor.” “Well, maybe it over shot itself . . .I’ll take it back okay?” “Sure.” “Thanks.” Ceaira smiled, then placed her crossbow onto the ground and walked over to Sakura. She then placed her hands on the gem and pulled, but it refused to budge. “Huh?” “This is weird . . .” Ceaira frowned, then gripped the gem with both hands and began pulling again, only harder this time. “Why . . .won’t . . .it . . .let . . .go!?” Suddenly she lost her grip and stumbled back until she fell onto her back. Everyone frowned, then looked back at the gem. “Why can’t Ceaira take it?” “Wait a minute . . .Ceaira didn’t fight the gem . . .Sakura did. Thus, Rain felt she was the one to possess it.” Aquilia crossed her wings and nodded, which caused Ceaira to become depressed when she got back up from the ground. “So I can’t get the Rain Gem back ever?” “Looks that way . . .” “Oh . . .”
Sakura frowned, then placed the gem in her pocket. Her staff transformed back into a necklace as she walked over, and when she got to Ceaira, she placed her hand on her shoulder and smiled. “Cheer up Ceaira. You’ll get it back someday.” “You think?” “Sure! After all, the cards that Li caught I got back in the end, right Li?” “Right!” “Well . . .okay, I feel a little better now.” “That’s good. Come on, as soon as Sakura changes back into her regular clothes, we’ll go get some ice cream.” “All right!” “ICE CREAM!” “By the way, where’s Kero?” “I’m on the way! I heard ice cream!” Everyone laughed as Kero shouted out, then Madison calmed down and adjusted the head set on her head. “Okay Kero, meet us at the ice cream parlor okay?” “Sure thing!” Smiling, Madison pulled the microphone, then nodded to everyone as they walked away. Up in the sky, the clouds were breaking away, causing beams of light from the sun to shine through.

Kero's Corner

“Hey there Card fans! It’s once again time for Kero’s corner and today’s segment talks about Sakura's newest battle costume!”
Kero then turns on the small TV to show Sakura slamming the Jump Card with her wand, allowing her to dodge the shot of acid rain.
“So now, does the costume remind you of anything?”
He then changes the channel to show Sakura in a battle stance, wearing the new battle costume.
“This battle costume may represent a retro vampire, (according to Sakura anyway) but it is very protective and manageable. The stockings and skirt protect the lower half of her body, while the vest guard style shirt protects the top. The hat protects her head, and the large collar protects her neck as well.”
Kero smiled then flies closer until his face is almost right up again the camera lens.
     “And now, check out this!”
He changes the channel once again to show shot of her long cape
“The cape is not just snazzy, but as you say today it proved to be VERY protective against the acid attacks Rain used! Madison thinks of EVERYTHING!”
Kero then turns around and walks over to a punching bag, and then turns back around to look at the camera.
“If you guessed that the battle costume resembles the one Sakura wore to fight the Shadow Card, you are defiantly correct! That’s why Madison copied some of the design because it proved very protective back then. Well, that’s all for today. See ya!”
He waves then starts punching and kicking the punching bag like a madman as the scene fades out.
