5/7 RAR Colour Parade

After more than 30 years service, the decision was made to lay up the Colours of 5 RAR and 7 RAR. A Colour parade was held on the units Birthday and a new set of Colours were presented by the Governor General. The new Colours are a first in the Regiment as they represent the linked Battalion rather than two seperate units.

The Pipes and Drums of 3 RAR travelled to Darwin and braved the tropical build up heat to support the two and a half hour parade. Here the Governor General inspects the Pipes and Drums under the watchful eye of the commander 1 bde.

One of the major parts of the parade for the Pipes and Drums was the piling of the Drums in preparation for the laying of the Colours.

The Piling of the Drums was the achieved by the combined Drum Corps and demonstrated the ease with which the two professional bands worked together.
