In January 2005 the Edinburgh Tattoo was held outside of Scotland, for the second time, at Aussie Stadium in Sydney.
5/7 RAR Pipes and Drums joined with members from 2 RAR, 3 RAR, 5/6 RVR, SUR, AUR, RACT, AAPD-P Pipes and Drums and Pipes and Drums Section DFSM to form three bands under the Army banner.
This performance also saw the first appearence of the Australian Tartan as the Australian Army Tartan and the new items of uniform that will form the basis of the official Army Pipes and Drums dress.
5/7 RAR provided the second largest contingent to the performance.
This was the first time that all of the active Pipes and Drums had massed and strengthened bonds between the Regular and Reserve bands.
The Tattoo also provided a unique chance for the Pipes and Drums to meet the Pipes and drums of the Highlanders, one of the Battalion's affiliated units.
