I Believe by Merle Stephenson

I believe in romance, I believe in love
I believe in amour and the moon above
I believe in trust, I believe in caring
I believe in giving and I believe in sharing
I believe in innocence and youthful schemes
I believe in holding hands and childlike dreams
I believe in twilight and enchanted stardust too
And my darling most of all I believe in you

If Wishes Were Horses by Merle Stephenson

When I was a small boy, just a young lad
My Mother would tell tales of the kingdom of Chad
I'd lay awake in my bed and listen for hours
Of mystical forests and magical towers
Of wizards and warriors, princes and kings
Of witches, warlocks and dragons with wings
The stories she spun were of the glorious kind
And beautiful visions would dance through my mind
When the story ended she would turn out the light
Put her hand to my cheek and kiss me goodnight
And say,
" If wishes were horses the beggars would ride "
" Dreams can come true if you look deep inside "
" Now go to sleep little man and soon you will see "
" Your dreams hold the power to change what tomorrow will be "
I would close my eyes and drift off to sleep
While praying the lord my soul for to keep
Then in my dreams lived visions of a land
With forests of green and white beaches of sand
With wizards and warriors, princes and kings
Witches, warlocks and dragons with wings
A magical place where dreams come true
The perfect place for me and you
And when I close my eyes at the end of the day
I can still hear those words that each night she would say
" If wishes were horses the beggars would ride "
" Dreams can come true if you look deep inside "
" Now go to sleep little man and soon you will see "
" Your dreams hold the power to change what tomorrow will be "

Virginia on Her Way by Merle Stephenson

Virginia's finally on her way
She really left him for good today
The lines on the highway fly by faster and faster
How could love turn into such a disaster
Outside there are clear blue skies
But there's a raging storm within her eyes
Her face feels battered, bruised and sore
And she just couldn't take it anymore
She hopes that her friend will still be there
He once told her that he would always care
So she travels on through the night
Hoping for comfort with the coming daylight
She knows she should have gone long before
But she just couldn't make herself walk out that door
She thought he'd change, but he never would
So now she's gone and left him for good
She pulls the ring from her finger and it falls to the floor
She'll never have to be afraid anymore
She thinks, "how could I have been a fool for so long?"
Wipes the tears from her eyes and finds it hard to be strong
She pulls up to the curb and runs to the door
As it opens, in exhaustion she falls to her knees on the floor
She feels herself lifted into the air
Carried inside and gently put down in an overstuffed chair
He puts his hand to her face, gently wipes a tear from her eye
And says, "Your home now Virginia, please don't cry"

Queen of Hearts by Merle Stephenson

At times the terms of love are dear
Its interest rates are never clear
We play the games and place our bets
The royal cards arrive in sets
Who will win the queen of hearts?
You hold her close as the music starts
The joker laughs and cuts right in
You think of killing, but that's a sin
The dance is over; you leave forlorn
This night you wish you were never born
The queen of hearts has picked her king
He wears the mask you saw him bring
But the jokers mask will not conform
And she sees too late it was just adorn
The queen of hearts looks beguiled
Did no one tell her the joker was wild

It's Up to You by Sonja Erica Jennifer Greub

There's a wonderful life out there
if that's how you choose to live,
it's not so much what you take,
but from your heart
it's what you can give.
There are times of giving
to mostly everyone else,
so please remember also
one important rule
of giving to yourself.
For dont' you owe yourself that
above most all else?
that you accept and love
the person you are
and respect yourself?
Because this is your life,
you make it what you choose,
making the best of what you can
is yours for the taking,
only you decide to lose.

Seeds of Love by Sonja Erica Jennifer Greub

When I first met you
all those years ago,
our friendship was a little seed
that soon began to grow.
Your love was the sunshine,
that no doubt helped it survive,
your patience and understanding
was my ever helping guide.
Your heart is so big,
so warm, so true,
life would not be so fulfilled
without the presence of you.
And I want you to know,
the difference in life you made,
for all your hugs and words of wisdom,
that you so often unselfishly gave.
When I think of love and beauty,
that's reliable, down to earth and true,
my heart sings songs of praises,
for God knew I needed someone,
someone just like you....

The House is High by Danielle

Once more to keep the night from coming
Once more to make that feeling stay
Once more so I'll have one more reason
Once more to play the lovers game

I thought of this, I cannot stop
I dreamed of this, though not a lot
I wanted this, but for a few more reasons
I needed this, but I won't let it be me

Or at least that's where I'll stand my ground
Too many times I'm forced to wash it down
Damn! At the beginning there's always hope
But lessons, have turned me, please don't go.

Or maybe its me. Maybe I should stay?
But if I did, what about tomorrow's day?
Would it hurt or go away?
Would I curse you, blindingly?
Yes, right now is just not good enough. Even the
future is dangerous

I don't know me, as well as I should.
I wish I were more me, I wish you would.
But you will not, so I must be.
No simpler equation, no lesser degree.
There's always greatness if I will try.
Tomorrow's dead. But the house is high.

At No Greater Cost by Danielle

Greatness is on the corner screaming
Nighttime is holding steady, beaming
And I, well I sit and watch the stars
My mind stretches and wanders, lost but never far

It definitely hurts, I'm definitely in pain.
I'm definitely wrong, I definitely can't play
I'm foolish weak, but unintentionally strong
I learned how to dance
But not for very long

Tomorrow is far, this moment won't stay
And even if it did
I wouldn't
Can't play

Come on dear answers
At some point you will
Stand and make peace with
Those feelings, until…

No not so fast,
Not so much I can't wait!
Damn! Don't you hear me?
Why won't you come play?

My dear, truth at once
We've loved, and lost
I've come clear, given in,
At no greater cost

Completion by Colin

For so long, loneliness, the only companion,
Overshadowing all other emotions.
Perfected the art to the point of certainty,
Yet now sees the dawning of new dilemmas.
Unanswerable questions,
We seek to forge false securities.
Obligation to complete all journeys,
And answer all questions,
With favorable resolve.
Concern to be offered,
Too much may already be known.
