September 6, 1999 ~ Took a pregnancy test, as I was starting to wonder if I was pregnant. It was positive. Geoff and I were shocked, this had been the first month of trying to get pregnant. I think after 4 times getting pregnant the first month of trying, we realize that we are very fertile! LOL :0) Official due date: MAY 13, 2000!!!!!!!!!!! September 7, 1999 ~ Phoned my OB, as I'd had a bit of spotting the day my period is due. I have a feeling it's just implantation spotting, but I decided to go to my prenatal appointments with the OB instead of my GP like I did my other pregnancies, just to be safe. I was given some instructions, and asked to go to get some blood tests done near the end of the week, to verify the pregnancy, and to check my hCG levels. September 10,1999 ~ exactly 5 weeks pregnant, went to have my bloodwork done. September 13, 1999 ~ Bloodwork tests are in! I am indeed pregnant (surprise, surprise!). My hCG levels are 2600, which is good(they should be somewhere between 500 and 6000). We scheduled more bloodwork, to check the hCG levels again, on Tuesday evening, and to do my complete prenatal blood work up. September 14, 1999 ~ Bloodwork done at the General Hospital. We'll hopefully find out the results of them tomorrow. September 16, 1999 ~ Bloodwork results are in! My hCG level is 8515, the nurse was pleased with that number, so I guess we'll assume it's a good one! September 17, 1999 ~ First visit with Dr. Ng. We had a good chat, filled out the reports, all the info about my other labours, (he wrote FAST! beside Braydens!) He advised me to take the vitamins (I already was), and he wants me to have an ultrasound next Friday, how exciting!! He's asked me to come to his office right afterwards so that we can get the results right away, and not have to wait the weekend. September 20, 1999 ~ Phoned the doctor today after a very nauseous weekend, vomiting included, but constant nausea, not limited to the widely held "morning" stereotype! I asked for a script of diclectin, a drug I used with both children so far, mainly to curb nausea in the car on long trips. He gladly obliged, and thankfully, Geoff picked up the prescription, and I took it right away. Looking forward to feeling human again in the next couple of days. September 22, 1999 ~ Feeling great today, thanks to the wonder drug diclectin! No more nausea, I was able to do some much needed housework, and see Blake off to her very first day of Preschool. What a big day! September 24, 1999 ~ Went for an ultrasound today! The whole family was there, Geoff, and the kids even! We saw the tiny (and I mean tiny!) heartbeat, and a tiny yolk sac. The u/s technician said that all looked well. Went to see Dr. Ng after, and he was pleased as well, the nurse told me that the main thing they were looking for was the heartbeat, and seeing that was a great sign! We decided it was time to spread the news, so we went to Mom and Dad's for supper, and let Blake tell the secret. She said "there's a baby in mommy's tummy!" They were surprised, and happy. We also phoned Auntie Mel and Uncle Trevor to tell them the news too. September 25, 1999 ~ Blake phoned Grandma C to tell her the news too, she said "Really? Really?" getting higher pitched every time. She told Grandpa C too, he thought Mommy had a baby bunny though, finally he heard her correctly! Also told Great Grandma W. today! :0) September 30, 1999 ~ I phoned the Doctor's office today to find out the results of my ultrasound on Friday. I wasn't prepared for what she told me! She said the the results were compatible with a viable baby less than 6 wks of age. I was exactly 7 wks at the time, so this isn't good! The nurse said it was fine, I obviously got pregnant late in my cycle, but I really don't think that's true. I'm hoping that the baby was just a bit small at that time, and it will be on track later on. The nurse mentioned perhaps moving my due date from the 13th to the 24th. I don't want to do this! I will have to have another Ultrasound now, at 14 or 15 wks she said, to check the baby's size again. Hopefully it will be better news next time. October 5, 1999 ~ Went grocery shopping today. In the cereal aisle I spotted Cream of Wheat, and just knew I had to have it. I haven't bought that in years. I've eaten a bowl of it twice today! October 7, 1999 ~ Still stuck on Cream of Wheat, I've eaten it nearly every day, sometimes twice a day! October 9, 1999 ~ Really suffering from sleep deprivation. I stayed overnight in the hospital with Brayden (he was in for his 2nd night with the croup). He's having trouble sleeping, and I'm really feeling tired, having been up with him for a few nights straight now. October 10, 1999 ~ Happy Thanksgiving!! We're happy to bring Brayden home today, and to have a great turkey dinner for supper. October 12, 1999 ~ I don't know how it's happened without me noticing, but today I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, and wowie! My belly has "popped" out, I guess my tummy remembers what to do! October 13, 1999 ~ I've got a new craving....vinegar! I can't get enough of salt and vinegar chips, tons of vinegar on french fries, and pickled beets! I've been eating a lot of beets lately for some reason. I'm still eating the cream of wheat too though, that craving hasn't left! October 18, 1999 ~ Today I received my first baby gift in the mail. A lovely little tiny pair of baby Gap socks from my cyber pal Alison :0) How exciting! I'm thrilled to have my first baby gift already! October 21, 1999 ~ I have my doctor's appointment tomorrow, and for some reason, I'm incredibly nervous! I hope everything is alright with the baby! October 22, 1999 ~ I went to the Dr. today at 4pm. I was very nervous like I said, Geoff wondered if he should come, but I told him it was likely too early to hear the heartbeat, so he wouldn't be missing anything. Boy was I wrong! We heard the heartbeat! I was sooooooo excited! It was really quick, and faint, and as soon as we heard it for a few beats, the baby moved on us. We didn't get a register of how fast it was, because it moved too quickly. My weight isn't too bad, up 5 pounds total, at exactly 11 weeks today. Not bad I guess. The dr. thinks we won't do the 14 wk ultrasound now, because since he heard the heartbeat, he feels my dates must be accurate. He said if I was less pregnant than I thought, we wouldn't have been able to hear it. This has really reassured me that everything is OK. I mentioned to the Dr. that we want to know the sex this time, so he feels we should wait until after 18 wks to make sure that we'll be albe to tell clearly enough. How exciting! November 2, 1999 ~ I forgot to take my nausea meds last night, and I'm suffering today. I'm severely nauseous. I suppose it didn't help at all that we went shopping to a city an hour away, and I'm extremely car sick. I've had a really bad day with feeling brutal, and I'm hoping to overcome it soon! November 5, 1999 ~ I can't believe that I am 13 weeks today. My pregnancy calendar(click to view it) says that today the baby measures 7cm in length! Wow! Next Friday, I'll be starting the 2nd Trimester. Unbelievable! |
