Chapter Seven

"Name?" The attendant sitting at the fake marble desk at the front of Uncle Bob's said.

"Morgan."

"First name?" The attendant asked, barely looking up from the opened book in front of her.

Nick snickered behind Morgan's back, causing her to turn to him with a thoroughly threatening look. Nick quietened down, but as soon as Morgan turned back around he let out another small laugh. "That is my first name" she tried to say without yelling at the woman.

"Last name?" She scrolled down the opened book in front of her, squinting from behind her thick glasses.

"Ha.." Morgan began to say before the woman cut her off.

"Your married last name that is."

Morgan looked at the woman with a painful expression. She really didn't want to give Nick the satisfaction of knowing that she was temporarily going to have to use his last name. She turned to Nick, who had a knowing look grin spreading from ear to ear. He motioned to the waiting woman, before Morgan gave him an annoyed look.

"Miss, your last name please."

"Car..Car..Car" Morgan stammered, unable to bring herself to say it.

"Come on babycakes you can do it" Nick encouraged, knowing Morgan was going to be even more hostile when they were done. It was worth it though to see Morgan's attempt at a glare everytime he teased her.

"Car.."

"That's not my last name by the way" Nick whispered in her ear. "It's.."

"Carter" Morgan managed to spit out, before Nick could tease her even more. She didn't want to turn around because she knew Nick would be gloating like crazy.

"Morgan Carter?" The woman reiterated, a little amused. "Sounds like a law firm to me" she added with a smile.

Morgan groaned to herself. "Unfortunately" she muttered. Nick heard her comment and stuck his foot out to kick her in the shin. "Excuse me" Morgan said to the attendant before turning to Nick. She looked up at him with a threatening expression. "If you seriously want to father children in the forseeable future, I wouldn't piss me off."

Nick just laughed. "What'd I do?"

Morgan gave an exasperated cry. "Men!"

"Uh Mrs Carter" the woman spoke up.

Morgan cringed at her name before having to muster up every ounce of her patience to give a polite smile. "Yes?"

"If you want to talk to the celebrant who married you, he's in the Hunk-a-Burnin-Love room."

"Hunk-a-Burnin-Love?" Nick said in disbelief.

"Uh-huh, down the hall, turn left."

Morgan led the way as Nick followed. She began pinching her arm repeatedly each time giving a soft 'ouch'. Nick looked at her. "What are you doing?"

"I'm hoping that I can wake up now and my worst nightmare hasn't come true" she answered matter of factly.

"It's not that bad" Nick remarked.

"Whatever gets you through the night Nick" Morgan snapped. "But it doesn't change the fact I got married in a room named after a line from an Elvis song."

"Well" Nick said with a sigh. "Here we are. Just look on the bright side, at least Elvis didn't marry us."

Morgan nodded weakly, trying not to burst into tears. She knocked and pushed open the door. "Excuse me?"

"Uh-huh?" The man in the room responded. His hair was slicked back, and his lip was curled in the same expression as Elvis. He had on a coat, but Morgan could make out sequins from where she was standing. She looked back at Nick and raised her eyebrow. "You were saying."

**************

"Sir" Morgan spoke up, noticing the man was starting to drift away. "Sir?"

"Mr King" he corrected.

"Mr King uh-huh" Nick said to himself in amazement. "What are the chances" he muttered.

"Mr King do you remember us?" Morgan asked.

"Maybe" he answered.

"We were here like barely 24 hours ago. You were the one who married us. Nick Carter and Morgan Hayes?" She said hopefully.

"Carter" Nick corrected smugly.

"Bite me" Morgan said through gritted teeth.

"Now young lady is that any way to talk to the man you love?" Mr King intervened while clicking his tongue.

"Yeah Morgan" Nick grinned.

"Shove it where the sun don't shine Nick" Morgan snapped, before turning her attention back to 'Elvis'. "That's exactly my point Mr King, he's not the man I love. I barely know him, in fact I only met him 2 days ago at the airport and he's definitely not Prince Charming."

"You're no Cinderella either" Nick interjected defensively.

"So we were wondering if you remember anything at all from that night. We were a bit on the drunk side and can't remember anything before waking up next to each other the morning after" Morgan continued, ignoring Nick's sulky expression. "Anything at all."

"Why yes" Mr King smiled.

"And what was it?" Morgan asked eagerly.

"You said he was the man of your dreams" he recalled, nodding to Nick who was now creased up in laughter.

"I..I..I did?" Morgan squeaked.

"Yes ma'am, you did" he nodded. "And you" he said turning his attention to Nick. "You said as I recall that this young lady..oh what was it? Oh that's right something about finding your other half. Thought it was quite touching myself."

Nick immediately stopped laughing, while Morgan burst into a fit of giggles. "Did you hear that Nick? You were touching."

"I must've been more drunk that I thought" Nick muttered in disbelief. "Cause I do not say things like that."

"Oh but you do and you did" Morgan teased, enjoying for once the look of discomfort on Nick's face.

**************

"That guy is flaky and then some" Nick mumbled to himself as soon as he and Morgan were out of earshot. The both of them had come out of the room a little more confused than they had been when they'd started. "But even though he's a bit out there, we're still hitched."

"Unfortunately" Morgan muttered under her breath.

"Yeah well I'm not exactly jumping for joy either" Nick snapped back.

"Well neither am I, so I suggest we come up with a way to get ourselves out of this before we really kill each other" Morgan said logically.

"I have to fly out to LA to meet the rest of the guys, and we go on tour a week or so after that. Can we fix this in like 2 days?"

"I don't know. I've got so many things going on, I've got a press conference to go to, I've got a pile of live appearances I have to confirm, I've got a group of teenage girls to look after and to top it all off I now have a husband" Morgan cried out. "Oh my God."

"Alright calm down Morgan. I didn't exactly have this in my date book either" Nick said. "But if we just take it easy and think about it we can fix it."

"Why do you sudden;y sound like Barney the dinosaur?" Morgan said incredulously.

"Are you always this defensive?" Nick snapped looking annoyed. "I was just trying to help."

"Okay fine. I'm sorry. But I don't know how we can undo this mess. I mean, before things get really complicated" Morgan sighed as she stopped on the sidewalk.

"How could things get any more complicated?" Nick remarked. "We're married, I think that's about as complex as things get. Unless you're pregnant which would be just..."

"Do not even joke about that" Morgan warned. "Complicated, as in when everyone finds out, cause my mom is gonna freak out and have a nervous breakdown on the spot."

"Mom! Oh my God, she's gonna kill me!" Nick exclaimed. "And the guys, and management and the fans and..."

"I get the picture" Morgan cut in. "So how the hell do we get back to normal?"
