Holes is written by Louis Sachar. I think it has as good of a plot as Harry Potter does. It's an interesting book except for the detailed descriptions about diggin the holes though... but once you near the end you can't put it down! It has an unusually funny sense of humor to it. I also recomend you reading the other books by him. The Wayside School Series is abnormally funny. So if your into a slightly humorous book with a deep plot I say you should pick this book up!
Mr. Popper's Penguins is written by Richard Atwater. It has the usually funny fealing in a good book but mix in some troublesome penguins and you get trouble! Very well written indeed... Definately a good read.
Island of the Dolphin is written by Scott O'Dell. A good survival story about a girl stranded on an island. A really good book. I highly recomend it to all readers.
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is written by C.S Lewis. The 2nd book in the Chronicals of Narnia. Yes it has something to do with magic. Meet a magical lion who talks and an evil witch. See who wins in the end.
The Witch of Blackbird Pond is written by Elizabeth George Speare. A colonial setting where magic is strictly forbidden. A girl is accused to being a witch. This book has a series touch of romance unless you like happy sappy stuff you should stay away. Other than that the author uses splendid words for describing things.
A Wrinkle in Time is written by Madeleine L'Engle. A good book about magical creatures and different planets. An interesting book, I recomend it to all readers.
My Side of the Mountain is by Jean Craighead George. A good book about a boy who runs away and survives in the wilderness. A well written book from his point of view. Quite interesting about the info. given in the book.
