NEXT OF KIN, ESSEX'S ANSWER TO HAANSON...
Meet Next Of Kin, the makers of the catchiest song of the year so far. Here at J17
we've been hypnootised by the supreme guitar-popness of 24 HOURs ever since the
musical brothers treated us to an impromtu office gig. Next of Kin are the Bass
brothers. Eighteen year old drummer Nathan, budding guitar legend Mark, 15 and bass
baby Kieran, 13.
Of course, people are already calling them Britain's answer to Hanson. "We don't really
mind at all, but we are musically different," says Mark. "They like 60's rock and roll
and we like metal fusion and heavier stuff."
The boys have been into music since they were wee nippers, so its no wonder they're so
talented. They play all their instruments and co-write their songs - and Mark's an ex
'Young Guitarist Of The Year'.
But where are the boyband dance routines? "We don't do dance routines, but we like them,"
says Kieran. "Yeah, maybe we should do one," laughs Nathan.
Now that things are really taking off for Next of Kin, they're too busy to go school, so
they have a tutor instead. This leaves them more time to get on with the hell-raising rock
and roll lifestyle. "We don't look heavy metal," says Nathan. "But we are the devils of rock."
