Early name for "Careful With That Axe Eugene."
Biding my Time
A southern Jazzy Classic in which Roger Waters takes a look back at his working days and doesnt shed a tear. An unusual Saxaphone/Drums combinations encumbers the major of this +5 min song.
Big Theme
Intended as a racing back drop song for the movie "La Carrera Panamericana," which was a 2500 mile long coarse. Gilmour and Mason rode in challenging cars along side the producers and an employee. Gilmour's car was flipped and he was lucky to escape with bruises as well as Steve O' Rourke. The song runs about 3 or less minutes.
Bike
Althought at first it seems to be another one of Barret's childhood ditties, "Bike" has a deeper significance. First there is the very adult plea to Barret's girl, then the coda, a manic represention of "a room full of musical tunes," Reached by footsteps like those later used to startling effect on the band's quadrophonic PA, the winding clockwork mechanisms and finally the hauntingly oppressive chattering voices.
At one time planned to segue with "Interstellar Overdrive," Bike later closed the "RELICS" album. (and did a very good job i must say!)
Birdy Hop
Very very very rarely seen or heard but definately a floyd original. Preformed live at the UFO STARCLUB birdy hop never made any floyd album or collection. "Birdy Hop" runs less than 3 minutes and has the same scheme as the Syd Barret classic "Effervescing Elephants" from his self entitled solo album "BARRET." The song refers to a birdy jumping about and obsercing the animals around him. Not the best song but definately a collectors dream.
Brain Damage
This is the nearest thing to the album's title track and the following song, represents Waters only vocals on the album. The lyrics "the lunatic is on the grass" Comes from an unrecorded song Waters wrote during the "Meddle" sessions in 1971. Its title was oddly enough titled "Darkside of the Moon!!"
Breast Milky
Part two of the opra like song "Atom Heart Mother." This Song was one of two songs writen by all members of the band on this album. Geesin , whom later helped on "Division Bell," also added to the mix. He was in charge of the organizing 10 Brass Players, a Cello Player, and 20 Strong Choir.
Breathe
This song is a breif dialouge between Nick Mason and I believe Paul McCartney whom definately has a dialouge at the end of "Money." To obtain this dialouge check out the lyrics section for "Darkside of the Moon."
Breathe in the Air
Naming problems accured fequently on this song. Commonly called Breathe (a track from "The Body") it opens "Darkside of the Moon." The line "Run Rabit Run" which opens the second verse is the title of a hit Flanagan and Allen had in 1939 on The Crazy Gang's film, "The Little Dog Laughed." The song was only played live as a complete "Darkside of the MOOn." preformance until in 1987 Roger Waters used it to end several of his solo shows.
Breathe Reprise
Aurguably the last verse of "Time," "Breathe Reprise" is listed as a seperate song on the sleeve of the DSOTM album but is only one track on the record.
Bring the Boys Back Home
Young Pink alone at the train station waiting and watching for his father to return is the scene from the Movie "The Wall." A marching band beet accompanied by a choir of people singing about thw young boys and men out at war. This song ends with an eerie collection of sound effects heard through out the album which builds to Pink's epic break down in the following track "Comfortably Numb."
Burning Bridges
Sung by Gilmour and Waters, this otherwise insignificant little ballad is made memorable by neat guitar work, which has a very little in common with Gilmour's work on the subsequent album. It is one of only three joint compostions by Wright and Waters. The other two are "Stay" and "Us and Them." Apparently despite there band breaking grudge!!
