Fat Old Sun
A popular BBC session recording. This osng is found on Atom Heart Mother and is writen by David Gilmour. Mason is the only band member in Pink FLoyd to be in from the start to present but is also the only member not to write a song on this album and the least productive. Originally the introduction was recorded for a Granchester Meadows intro. Gilmour sings his softest here.
Father's Shout
The introduction to the 23min plus song atom heart mother. Atom heart mother is the longest recorded album Pink Floyd song. Second... Echoes.
Fearless
Speaking of "Meddle,' Fearless is the third song on the album. The last minute is filled with chanting which was a cappella of Rodger and Hammerstein's "You'll Never Walk Alone."
Final Cut
The title track of the album, this song was excepted by the spiteful Gilmour. The second half of this song has the exact same riff as the chorus to Comfortably Numb.
Fingal's Cave
Unreleased track from ummagumma live record. Originally a rejected piece for 'Zabriske's Point' this piece has out takes during the riot scene at the California State College. It later was scheduled for a track on Ummagumma but was cut.
Flaming
The line "...hear we go, ever so high.." is sung innocently enough by the song's author Syd Barret. It was recorded on the Pipers at the Gates of Dawn album and also re-released as a single in the US with a slightly different twist. It was performed several time for the BBC sessions, alternating the singing by Waters, Gilmour and Barret. Personally the line "...Sitting on a unicorn.." and the gay nature of this song leads me to believe that the ,title "Flaming," refers to people of the homosexual nature. This theory of mine has never been asked, presented or denied by the band. So if anyone know Barret please ask him for me. Would ya?
Fletcher Memorial Home
Eric Fletcher Waters was the inspiration for this album, being Roger's lost father. This song is from The Final Cut album which was dedicates to Eric Fletcher Waters. The album was produced as an alterbative to Rogers later album Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking and marks the break up of the band. Gilmour is very spiteful of this album. This is one of the few songs he like possibly because of it heavy guitar solo towards the end of the song.
Free Four
One of the many songs writen by Waters about his fathers death in the war, which is a constant theme for this man. This song appears in the movie " La Vallee," which Pink Floyd wrote the sound track to in under two weeks. It appears on the Obscured by the Clouds album. An extra verse appears in the movie and some minor lyrical differences.
Funky Dung
The forth passage in the six passage song Atom Heart Mother. Again Atom Heart mother is the longest recorded, album song by the Floyd beating out Echoes by a hair.
