Actor 'Bradboy' Renfro gets some good news in Broward case

Teen heartthrob Brad Renfro
got an encouraging word in Broward Circuit Court on Wednesday: Keep his nose
clean for 90 days and he won't have to worry about going to prison in Florida.
Renfro is on two years probation for trying to steal a 45-foot yacht in Fort
Lauderdale in August 2000.His probation ends on January 2003.
The 19-year-old star of the movies "The Client," "Sleepers"
and "Bully" was told Wednesday that his violation of probation case
was continued until Dec. 13 and the end results could hinge on how well he does
in a separate Knoxville, Tenn., case.
Judge Ronald J. Rothschild told the "Bradboy," as some fans call him,
he must stay out of trouble.
That's basically the same thing a court in Knoxville, his hometown, told Renfro
on Tuesday: If he stays out of trouble for the next 90 days, underage drinking
charges filed in May will be dropped.
Rothschild again indicated that Renfro had passed all his required drug and
alcohol tests and ordered him to continue undergoing monthly drug and alcohol
testing.
Last January, Renfro entered into a plea agreement and was sentenced to the two
years' probation and ordered to pay more than $4,000 for repairs to the yacht.
He and a friend were accused of attempting to drive the $175,000 vessel from a
dock in Holiday Harbor. The effort failed, however, after the pair neglected to
untie the lines, sending the boat crashing into the dock.
At the time, Renfro was in Fort Lauderdale filming "Bully," the
true-life story about the murder of Bobby Kent, of Hollywood, at a Weston
rockpit.
