Family Stories: Henry Forrest's Close Call

Henry Forrest Stevenson was in Casablanca in 1955 at a time when the Arab inhabitants were rebelling against their French overlords. At this time in history, the Arabs were friendly toward the Americans who had been sympathetic to their cause. Henry Forrest and a friend were eating in an Italian restaurant when an Arab came in and told them, "Get out now. Do not stop to pay your bill, just leave." They got up and left. They were walking down the street when the restaurant blew up behind them.
