Family Stories: Rose and Silas Harris Silas Harris came from Sweetwater. He married Rose Marie and they purchased a farm in Rudy, a few miles from her father. Silas' father kept a loaded 45 in his belt every day of his life. Silas was a peaceful man and served as a country minister of one of the mountain churches in the area. He had the mechanical ability to fix anything and was always willing to help others, but received little in the way of appreciation. People with automotive problems would stop by to pay a "social call" and he was always ready to be of service.
